Wikitravel Shared:Travellers' pub
The Travellers' pub is where Wikitravellers of all languages get to together to talk about Wikitravel, and where you can ask for help if you're confused, lost, afraid, tired or annoyed by Wikitravel. Please check the FAQ and Help page before asking a question, though, since that may save your time and others'. If you have question about travel, not the website, try the Wikitravel Extra Forum. Also, here is a resubmit request, the bug on ja: Wikitravel Mobile Version once reported by 木更津乃風. We are very happy if you could check the system and fix them as soon as possible.--Shoestring (talk) 11:06, 20 April 2013 (EDT)
Hi Alex, I apologize for my delayed response. I went to Southeast Asia last week. In regard to your request, I uploaded screenshots as follows: Request "No. 4" seems recovered, so I don’t upload the shot this time. Your cooperation would be very much helpful.--Shoestring (talk) 00:15, 12 May 2013 (EDT) RespectThere is a big mistake about Topic - Respect. I am a frequent traveller to Kuala Lumpur, and I have a lots of friends being the members of Barisan National. I don't see there is any "danger" to stay along with them. Obviously, the message in "Respect" is composed by the opposition party with disrespect and bias. In a travel advising website, accusing a political party is completely unrelated to tourist. I urge this website to correct it ASAP and gives the international traveller a true, fair comment about Malaysia's political environment. —The preceding comment was added by 223.16.199.154 (talk • contribs)
Getting OpenID backIs there any chance that the OpenID log-in will be enabled again? I seem to have lost access to my account, because I have used the method and without registering password and email. (ok, it could have been months since it was disabled - I'm an infrequent user) --27.253.199.217 11:16, 8 May 2013 (EDT)

My wife and I owned and set it up and ran it for six years. The property now appears to be run as a holiday house to let under the name Blue Water House. It is not the same business.

Please fix your problem in introduction! -VANK, a non-governmental organization of Korea-Hello, my name is Park Ha-eun, and I am a student of Dokjeong elementary school in South Korea. I am a member of VANK, which is an abbreviation of Voluntary Agency Network of Korea. VANK is a non-governmental organization, and we take a great effort to solve history distortions or wrong image of Korea. We found out that your picture in the introduction about Japan has a slight mistake. The body of water between Korea and Japan has been marked as "Sea of Japan". However, evidently, "Sea of Japan" is not a correct name at all. It has been called as "Sea of Japan" since Korea has been Japan's colony. But, now we are a independent country as Korea, and the exact name is "East Sea". Additionally, the worldwide mapmaker, National Geographics, and the travel guidebook, Lonely Planet Publication, has promised us to use the name "East Sea" as well. We would be delightful if you mark our sea as both of the names, "Sea of Japan" and "East Sea". Thank you for reading and we would appreciate your favorable consideration. We would be grateful for your explanation as to why you chose to use ‘Sea of Japan’. Please email us at [email protected] Sincerely, Park Ha-eun

Houston 1940 Air Terminal MuseumI am a new contributor to Wikitravel. I made a recent addition i.e., the 1940 Air Terminal Museum in Houston, Texas. I made at least two errors, but don't know how to correct them. 1) I placed the article under the "Buy" section and it should be moved to the "Do" section. 2) The link to the museum web site, www.1940airterminal.org does not work. Can anyone help me correct those errors? Thanks —The preceding comment was added by User:99.45.100.108 (talk • contribs)

Malaysia page filled with racist and irrelevant information....I like to read articles for balanced information. Unfortunately, the article on Malaysia has some paragraphs on Malaysia being a "shithole," with many derogatory comments about Muslims, including that they "breed 8-15 f**kt***ds" etc..... Seeing this interferes with my ability to enjoy reading the article, but I do not have an account. If someone could do something about this, that would be great. Furthermore, I wish to add that such comments do not belong on wikitravel, and I think they should be removed. —The preceding comment was added by 118.99.133.149 (talk • contribs)

Right or wrong uploadsI did upload several pictures by other authors and everything seems correct to me, but i have some doubts regarding few of them. So in order to save my time and time of others i would not want to wait until somebody will notice inaccuracies when everything is "too late". Can i ask to check my uploads and tell whether they are right (and therefore can be used on Wikitravel) or they are not appropriate and can't be used as illustrations on Wikitravel pages? I don't see where else i could ask such almost personal question. The problem is with people in the photos - i have read carefully everything what has been said in this respect and generally everything is clear and comprehensible. Still i have no competence to decide what kind of "crowd in public spaces" is suitable for Wikitravel, where is a line when people are already "peripheral to the picture content" and when they "are not peripheral enough" to be suitable for use of the photo on Wikitravel. In other words i need only clear instruction which pictures can't be used, no explanations are needed. The pictures are these: first, second, third. One more similar question: if the "crowd" is in public space and all people are only performers and spectators, all are identifiable and not "peripheral to the picture content" because they are the content itself - what then? Not a crowd in a market or so, but a certain performance where everybody (both performers and spectators) are willing to be in the limelight, and the photo serves as an illustration of the certain event that travelers are more than welcome, and they of course would know that they can be photographed or filmed (by private person or TV) too. Such an informative picture of the crowd, non of the people predominates, no one plays to the camera. Yes or no? It may be that in the future i'll have same question about other photos with other people - can i ask it again (then where) or should i not disturb? --Kazys (talk) 13:16, 25 July 2013 (EDT)

Mobile re-direction isn't workingI've noticed that wikitravel mobile redirection isn't working. I'm not sure what you're running on the backend, but it should be pretty easy to setup proper mobile redirection. I'm a professional web developer and I'd be happy to help with it for free if you want. Another and possibly easier/better solution is to just use CSS media queries to serve the mobile style info for small screens. Again, I'm happy to help. For some reason I can't seem to log in to this section of wikitravel (that's another issue) but my wikitravel name is Beau and my email is: [email protected] —The preceding comment was added by 27.123.214.109 (talk • contribs)

After reading Wikitravel Male, I decided to visit Maarukeytu Hota restaurant for my lunch while experience the local culture as well. All these while, I always rely on the information from Wikipedia and Wikitravel when comes to traveling. However, these guys in the restaurant who served us had brought us the food we never ordered and ate. Yet they still charged it to the bill for a as much as USD40 when all we asked for from the restaurant was only a can of coke and helped us to cook the fish which we bought and and paid earlier in the fish market. Between, the restaurant owner agreed to charge us USD10 for grilling the fish. Although we took merely 4 small bowls of rice of all the food that brought us, we didn't expect the bill to go up to USD40 when Wikitravel suggested the price of a normal meal consisting of grilled fish, rice and drink in the restaurant won't be more than Rf30 or USD2. On top of USD10 of cooking the grilled fish, I won't expect 4 small bowls of rice, a small plate of chips and a bottle of coke would cost us as USD40. When I requested for the bill, the waiter showed the bill to us in which he charged us all the food we didn't order including 4 bottles of mineral water, a bowl of curry and a small plate of vegetable. He charged us USD 3 for a small bowl of rice which left me wondering if the rice is made of gold. Albeit the 5 stars resort we stayed in Maldives only charged us for USD1.5 for a bowl of rice. Can you please stop recommending Maarukeytu Hota as this restaurant is trying their best to exploit and mislead the tourists? I wish no other tourist to be in my shoes again when visiting Male and end up having a bad impression of the city and people there. Can you please remove this restaurant from the recommended restaurant in Wikitravel Male asap? Thanks and regards YL (Malaysia) |
