The only way to get a Shared link to show up properly seems to be if you put it in the "Navigation" menu.  If you go to [[:en:Special:Recentchanges]] look at the bottom of the navigation menu and you'll see "Wikitravel Shared".  That will take you to Shared's main page.  -- [[User:Sapphire|Andrew Haggard (Sapphire)]] 22:40, 12 September 2006 (EDT)

:Ah, that's too bad, because some of the language versions, Spanish for example, still don't even have that link for Shared in the navigation menu. [[User:Texugo|Texugo]] 01:53, 13 September 2006 (EDT)

Hello Texugo!

Now I'm cleaning up <nowiki>{{dont know}}</nowiki> tagged images on shared: [http://wikitravel.org/shared/Wikitravel_Shared:Travellers%27_pub#Images_without_license_or_information]. So could I ask you to put a [[Tags#Licensing|license tag]] on your images[http://wikitravel.org/shared/Special:Whatlinkshere/User:Texugo/Unlicensed] and remove <nowiki>{{dont know}}</nowiki> tag from them? -- [[User:Tatata|Tatata]] 06:19, 15 August 2007 (EDT)

== language potal ==

Hello Texugo,

Thank you for the answer. I think that we need to discuss to host language potal on shared: site because English is an official language on here. I don't know at this time whether it is hard to reach a consensus or not.  But some admins from language versions may support this; you, me, [[User talk:Tatata#Uploading instruction templates in different languages|Peter]] and maybe [[Wikitravel Shared:Travellers' pub/Pub cellar July 26, 2007#Portuguese portal|Ricardo]]. As you know, we can replace the link in [[MediaWiki:Sidebar]] like as pt: site and we cannot replace the link in tool box. If we cannot host them here, we can try to hide the link like as [[:commons:Main Page|Wikimedia Commons]] by using [[:commons:MediaWiki:Common.css|CSS]] ''if'' Evan enables [[MediaWiki:Common.css]] on Wikitravel site..... ;-) -- [[User:Tatata|Tatata]] 07:04, 17 August 2007 (EDT)

Thank you for your thorough and complex answer to my question. I really appreciate you spent (seems like an hour) working on that. I hope none of your ideas will be abandoned, however currently I can not focus on more than one issue at a time.  Sorry for I am not

going to extensively comment at the moment on each issue you've raised as that would take too much time at once. Especially that in some of the points I share your opinion. So as not to leave you without any comment I can only  point you to a [[en:Wikitravel_talk:Polish_Wikitravel_Expedition#Relaunch?|disc page]] where you can read my opinions in brief. As far as I can understand your message you have mentioned the following topics:

#making pl article templates int'nt'lly consistent

#translations: Man of style and ext'l links

#Wikipedia links (I've just swooped on images there - to be cont. ;) )

If you could choose from the above one to start with, we could finish discussion and I could carry out that point. Then we could go on with the two other. Hope we move on soon.

As you have written your help may be the most valuable after all from the above will have been fixed. On the other hand you have already helped with your previous message, where you pinpointed so many weaknesses. I hope they will all be sorted out soon. Thanks again and looking frwrd to hear from you. [[User:LukeWestwalker|LukeWestwalker]] 13:50, 13 September 2007 (EDT)

: Thank you for your suggestion concerning article templates. I have looked at the concept of section templates you recommended. I agree it saves work and faciltates changes. I am not sure what could happen after we'll have implemented them. We change a name of one or another section, but the section template in previously created articles will still contain obsolete section template name? Even article template will contain those section templates with obsolete titles? On the other hand has this solution proved useful on any other lang version of WT? I am afraid it will look weird after changes and encourage less experienced users to use obsolete names. Possible in your opinion? Moreover, you mentioned ''Informacje turystyczne and Przedstawicielstwa dyplomatyczne''. Why do you consider them unnecessary? Do you disagree with en Where you can stick guideline to put embassies into Cope section? Sorry if I put too much ignorance in the above questions - I am just still learning WT. :Seems like you were away, so just an addendum in the meantime: I reviewed application of the section ''Informacje turystyczne'' within city articles. I discovered it has been filled only twice (among about hundred instances of section header), with info usually put into ''Understand'' and ''Contact''. Therefore I consider this section to be launched away. I am going to  scrutinize into ''Przedstawicielstwa dyplomatyczne'' next. :Well, after more detailed insight, seems like you are away from shared only. I looked into usage of ''Przedstawicielstwa dyplomatyczne'' and it turns out to have been used exactly 50 times always listing embassies and consulates of the destination.  Do you think they should be removed? Moreover they were put in by an active, dedicated user. Looking forward to any advice on that. You asked: ''We change a name of one or another section, but the section template in previously created articles will still contain obsolete section template name?''

:No. The section names as they appear in the template itself are just placeholders that point to secondary templates where the section header that gets displayed is stored. If that secondary template is changed to a new section header name, then every article that has used the model will automatically be updated.

::Actually I meant another situation, but did not manage to explain it clearly enough. That is not the most important now, so I reasked my question [http://wikitravel.org/pl/Dyskusja_u%C5%BCytkownika:LukeWestwalker/article_templates here], where you can answer in some convienent moment. As to the templates, in the meantime I became convinced to their neccesity and started to introduce them gradually ([[:pl:Wikitravel:Szablon_małego_miasta|1]] and [[:pl:Wikitravel:Szablon małego miasta (do wklejenia)|2]] for a start). I'll move on with it in the rest of the templates in the following days. By the way, I wondered whether it's neccessary to "template" all section headings, as not all of them sound temporary. Most are straightforward and I don't predict they may be subject to change. So I considered applying templates to selected sections only. But eventually I decided to template all to make it your way, and moreoveryou never know what may be neded to be changed in future. You wrote:'' Moreover, you mentioned ''Informacje turystyczne and Przedstawicielstwa dyplomatyczne''. Why do you consider them unnecessary? Do you disagree with en Where you can stick guideline to put embassies into Cope section?''

:I agree with the Where you can stick it guideline, but the section itself needs a name like "Cope" or something. The examples I looked at had ''Informacje turystyczne and Przedstawicielstwa dyplomatyczne'' as their own separate top-level sections, but what we need is a "Cope" section that should encompass these two things and a lot of other things as well.[[User:Texugo|Texugo]] 03:01, 19 October 2007 (EDT)

::I got you now. I'll try to rework this section to the Cope section. However I would like to convince another users to such change, as embassies lists where put in by an experineced and long-time user. Therefore it may take some time, but I think will eventually happen.
