Wikitravel upgrade - site in read-only mode for a few days beginning Monday 3/25/2013

Hello Shoestring! We have some good news! Wikitravel will be upgrading its software next week! In order to migrate Wikitravel's extraordinary database of travel information, we'll be putting the site into read-only mode starting Monday 3/25/2013 and running for about three days. No edits will be possible at this time. When we come back, we'll be better than ever. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns! Hello Shoestring! Here are the updates: Our IT team has been working on solving the bugs and has some questions to you. Could you please help?

• For "The page index at the top left of the pages does not display" (regarding screen shots 1-1 and 1-2), could you please paste url of the page. Our IT team says that they tried on different pages, both logged in and logged out, and the content is shown.
• "The "months" index" on the events and festivals, on the link provided, it is shown in both cases. Can you please purge the cache by appending to the url in the browser: ?action=purge&forcelinkupdate

何度も同じお願いで大変申し訳ありませんが、再度の画像削除をお願いできませんでしょうか。

先日お願いをさしあげたものと同じ画像なのですが、ファイル名を変えております。

（ ChoshiFishWholesaleMarket01.jpg ）

何が問題なのかと申しますと、画像情報の著作権保持者のところに私の本名が表示されていることを気にしております。

前回、同じことでご迷惑をおかけしたので、今回はあらかじめ画像のExif情報を編集して名前を削除しておいたのですが、

なぜかWikisharedにアップすると、また名前が表示されてしまったのです。

（逆に言いますと、この情報さえ後からでも削除できるのなら、画像自体は残しておきたいのですが…。）

ご迷惑をおかけして申し訳ありませんが、何卒よろしくお願いいたします。

「Edit」タグの存在、今の今までまったく気づいていませんでした！

また、同じファイル名で上書き保存できることも知りませんでした。

これで、画像削除のお願いをさしあげることがずいぶん減りそうです。今まで余計なお手間をとらせて申し訳ありませんでした。

ちなみに、上記の２行のメッセージは、英語版シェアードの「File history」の欄に表示されています。

今の時点の情報量であれば、地方別の括りでいいかと思います。都道府県別に項目建てをしても、埋まらない部分が多く、却って読みづらくなるかと思います（それに、海外や文化圏の情報は、そもそも同じような対応ができません）。

Wikitravel upgrade

Hello Shoestring! How are you doing? Long time no talk. A while ago I left a message on Japanese Traveller's Pub but I'm not sure if you saw it and if the community understood my message. I would like to personally bring you the news.

Our tech team is almost done with the new upgrade and mobile version that is coming up as well. After we're done with the upgrade we will continue to pursue new features, and make sure any tech concerns are addressed. Speaking of a page layout, why don't you display the "Upload an image" link to the sidebar of the shared pages? Without it, we have to get back to the mainpage each time when we want to upload some pieces of images at one time. Shoestringサン、お世話様です。私が記述（更新）したワルシャワの記事が今月の旅行先に選ばれてうれしく思います。ワルシャワは私が訪れたことがある都市ではありますが、内容が乏しく感じたため、記述しました。くだらない質問ですが、教えてください。

メインページにある「今月の旅行先」の選考は「※次回以降の「今月の旅行先」候補地の推薦受付はこちら！」（Wikitravel:今月の旅行先の選考）でするみたいですが、一度も「今月の旅行先」選考されてない都市を選考してほしい場合は「Wikitravel:今月の旅行先の選考」の「選考中の記事」に記述すればいいのでしょうか。一度も「今月の旅行先」選考されてない都市を選考してほしい場合は、当然のごとく選考中ではないでしょうから、「Wikitravel:今月の旅行先の選考」の「選考中の記事」とは違う項目のところに記述すればいいように感じるのですが。

「安宿」の定義

ファミリーロッジ旅籠屋（高速道路の近くにある、本来の「モーテル」といえます）の方から、安宿に入れることについて抗議されています。

ここでの「安宿」は単に低価格とか、税別１００００円未満とか、本来なら基準をもつべきでしょうが、曖昧なのでイメージが悪く見えるのでしょう。

観光地にランク付けをする話がありましたね

数年前ですが、観光スポットにランクをつけて「ここは見る価値がある」ように表示しようという意見を出されましたね。

私は「尺度がないと揉める元だ」と反対しましたが、確かに京都のお寺でも人によって価値観が違う、行きたいところは人それぞれだと思います。

そこで、旅行プランを使って「京都1日○○をテーマとしたコース」「京都定番コース」などプランを作ってみてはいかがかと思います。

京都にしても、清水寺や金閣寺は修学旅行で行った、嵯峨野を中心として見たいとか、伏見のお酒を飲みたいとかあると思います。

Bug on Recent Changes

Hi Shoestring, there's a bug happening across all language versions of Wikitravel. We can't check the differences on the "Recent Changes" page. Please hang tight, I've passed the issue to tech and they're working on fixing it! We've also been investigating rotating pictures but it's taking some time to find the source of the problem. Tech will work on the Recent Changes bug first because patrolling new edits is the most critical part for many of us.

Printable Versions, Rotating Images, Log Out Issues

Hi Shoestring, I submitted your issue for printable versions to our tech team. I was able to see the same issue of Safari for Mac. I also want to update the issue for incorrectly rotated images, but I can't find the article where this image is supposed to be. Do you have a link? Even if it was removed, I can check the history of that article to dig up an old copy. They'll help us finally solve this issue.

Last, WT EN and some other language versions have been having an issue where logged in users are being logged out. Tech is searching for the bug as we speak! In the mean time, if you click the checkbox that says "Keep me logged in" beneath the password field on the login screen it should keep you from being logged out. I'll have updates as we get them! History and Printable bugs

Hi! Thanks for the heads up on the history bug, it should be fixed now! I check EN and JA, but can you please double check and let me know if you see any issues? Also, I was able to see the bug that 利用者・トーク:TedSF found. I tried printing the page and the text kept getting cut off. So I reopened the issue with our tech team, they're going to update our mediawiki print extension to see if that helps. I'll let you know as soon as they get back to me. In the mean time, please let 利用者・トーク:TedSF know that the bug seems to be isolated to Chrome, Firefox prints perfectly, but we are trying to find a Chrome fix. 例に挙げている小倉のマクドナルドですが…・

最近、日本マクドナルドの再建計画か、もしくはビルのリニューアルかですが…。 写真のマクドナルド（北九州市/小倉北区となっていますが、小倉駅前です）の独特のMマークが変わっています。 現在は何の変哲もないMマークがついていますが、写真はどうしましょう？ ちなみに小倉北区魚町の大規模なマクドナルドが閉店して大変です。--たぬき (トーク) 2016年4月18日 (月) 18:31 (JST)

Update

Hi Shoestring, I have some news. Our tech team is updating the Wikitravel software to the latest version offered by WIkimedia. Almost everything is staying the same, but there are improvements to the toolbar users see when they are editing a page and an easier way to upload pictures.

I have a link to Wikipedia's official page about the update. Please rest assured that there will be no major changes to the visual design of Wikitravel, just some refinement.

Also, along with the new update - there should be a fix to the problems your editors had reported last month (images on mobile and a link to "Recent changes" in the side menu).

The update should happen within the next two weeks. I'll let you know days in advance of when it actually happens. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out.

メッセージありがとうございます。2016年2月に発生した台湾南部地震は高雄市付近を震源とするものですが、実際に被害が大きかったのは台南市の方です。高雄市でも何件か被害は報告されていますが、熊本市のように町全体が大きな被害を受けたというわけではないようですし、高雄市の被害自体はそれほど甚大なものとは言えないのではないかという見方もできるように思われます（実際に震災当初から、高雄市在住の人たちは「（全く）問題ないのでぜひ観光に来てほしい」というメッセージを送っていたという記事もあるようですし）。ですので、上のような記述を書くと、読む人によってはかえって誤解を招くようにも思われますが、いかがでしょうか？--Shoestring (トーク) 2016年5月1日 (日) 22:46 (JST)

Sample fonts during wiki upgrade, please do not delete.

• The new mediawiki upgrade was not accepting the Special:Mapstraction page so our tech team is rewriting the extension. They said it should be ready by tomorrow, but let's just say two days incase it needs more work.
• Fonts - can you check this image and let me know if this is what you are referring to? We are trying to find the old font name (you mentioned Gothic) but it wasn't listed in the code. Regardless we're working to find this exact font or one that matches it as much as possible.

Login Issue & Other Bugs

Hi Shoestring, tech fixed the login issue so users shouldn't be kicked out anymore. Please let me know if this is still occurring. As for the other bugs, were you referring to the chart that you made in the JA Traveller's Pub and ja:_Bug_reports? I've noticed that the auto-signature button has reappeared, but the table of content formatting, patrolling signs not disappearing and the captcha not working properly are still an issue. If you can confirm and if there are other bugs, I will make sure to bring them up to tech asap. 管理者同士でトラブル

私と木更津乃風さんとである編集において対立感情を持つことになってしまい、悩んでいます。

本来は片方の当事者が事の顛末を語ると問題ですが、あえて言います。

木更津乃風さんが福岡市/博多区の記事に「博多」として屋台の記事を書きました。

私は諭す意味で「福岡市≠博多」と説明しました。実際には福岡市/中央区の天神や長浜にも屋台が多いという意味です。

私は機を見て福岡市の記事に移して多少書き換え、しかしすぐ行うのも多少問題と、そのままにしてあるときしようと考えたのです。

しかしこの一連の問題に木更津乃風さんが激怒。

しかも問題ある発言を連発し、仲裁のAiko99annさんにも怒りを向け、私が主張したこと全てに喧嘩を売る発言。

私だけでなく、Aiko99annさんや商売の人にも迷惑がかかり、WTの信用にも関わる問題です。

私はWTの根本は信用社会と思います。そのため皆が読んで楽しいことを意識して記事を書いて成り立つと考えます。

私も管理者として信用社会を創り、責任者としてビジョンを作成するのも仕事のひとつと考えます。

しかし木更津乃風さんは、言動から責任者、代表、リーダーとしての役割のある管理者として不適当と、解任を求めたいです。これは私怨ではなく、組織の秩序という観点です。

ご依頼の趣旨は、木更津乃風さんを管理者から解任してほしいということかと思います。これについては、現在私はビューロクラットとしての権限を持ち合わせていませんので、そのようなことはできませんとしかお答えできません。その上で、解任動議に対して賛同してほしいという依頼が次に来るのかもしれませんが、現時点で木更津乃風さんを管理者から解任しなければならないような特段の理由が見当たりませんので、これについても賛同するつもりはありません。

木更津乃風さんもかなり強い言葉を使われている上、お互いが感情的になって事の本質が見えづらくなっているかと思いますので、まずは少し時間をおいて、頭を冷やされることをお勧めします。その上で、今回の件について、ご自身が木更津乃風さんのノートページに残されたメッセージあたりから、旅人の居酒屋でのやりとりあたりまで、そして、「Wikitravel:ウィキトラベル憲法」「Wikitravel:ウィキトラベルの基本精神」「Wikitravel:目標、そして目標でないもの」「Wikitravel:編集合戦」といったあたりの記事を何度か熟読した上で、今回木更津乃風さんが何故それほどまでに強い言葉を使ってたぬきさんに激しく抗議をされたのか（あるいはしなければならなかったのか）、相手方に自分の主張を伝える上で、その方法やニュアンスも含め、果たして自分には本当に非がなかったのか、そのあたりをもう一度ご自身でじっくり考えてみられることをお勧めします（やりとりの中にはAiko99annさんのコメントも含まれるわけですが、それはまた別の次元で考えるべき問題かと思いますので、とりあえずご自身と木更津乃風さんとのやりとりに特化して読んでみてください）。

こんにちは、私のユーザーページが荒らされていることなどをJoelさんに伝えていただき、恐れ入ります。もともと特に内容がないページですので、私自身はそれほど気になっていません。

それよりも、ここ数日の荒らしによって妙なタイトルのページが新設されてしまっていますが、それらが完全に消えていないことが気になります。件のTmv氏のトークページにさきほど書きましたが、ウィキボヤージュ「水茶屋」での議論の中でTmv氏が投稿している文章の中に、その妙なタイトルのままのページへのリンクが残っています。たとえば、[7]です。このリンクへの言及は、「水茶屋」の「Wikitravelからのインポートについて」→「方針文書の作成について」の項目で書かれています。

リンクにあったページについては私の方で削除しました。居酒屋の元文書だったのでどうしようかとも思いましたが、すでに新たな履歴で居酒屋が復元されていますし、これを復活させると余計ややこしくなるのでとりあえず削除の扱いとしました。あちらの水茶屋の項目についても既に白紙化されているみたいです（ご指摘の部分は見当たりませんでした）。余談ですが、荒しで新たに立ち上げた記事名がこの方の投稿記録に次々と出てきました（こちらも既に削除したため投稿記録からは消えていますが）。おそらく同じIPアドレスを使っていて、図らずも足跡が残ってしまったのでしょう。自分たちが受けた荒らしの手口を真似してこちらに攻撃を仕掛けてきているわけで、やり方自体がそもそも卑劣ですし、そのような人間が中心になっているサイトが今後正常に育つとも思えません。今後執拗な荒らし行為を含め何かあっても当サイトの復元以外は一切関わらずにこちらは淡々ベースで"Business as usual"を貫けばいいかと思います。それにしても、Aiko99ann (トーク)さんのページ、早く復元してほしいものですね。メッセージを送ろうにも、少々やりづらくて仕方ないです（笑）--Shoestring (トーク) 2020年9月14日 (月) 21:15 (JST)

移動記録をあらためてさらってみて、件の偽サイトに移動されたAiko99ann (トーク)さんの情報がまだそのまま残っていることが確認できました。それら偽サイトに残っている本編とトークページの元情報をそのまま切り取って現在お使いの利用者ページに貼り付けるという形であれば、私でも対応できそうです（ただしこの方法による場合、現在の居酒屋のようにこれまでの履歴が全て消えてしまいます）。もしこのような形でもよろしければ私の方で作業しますが、いかがいたしますか？とりあえずお返事を待ってからの対応としたいと思います。--Shoestring (トーク) 2020年9月15日 (火) 20:36 (JST)

New Video Advertisements

Shoestring-san, You have almost certainly noticed the new "AnyClip" video ads. While they aren't incredibly troublesome on the destination/location pages, they look awful on User, Talk, and Special pages.
