Xianning is in Hubei province.
Frequent trains from Wuhan, the provincial capital (every 20 minutes from different stations) make going to Xianning convenient and quick.
G trains serve Wuhan - Xianning from Wuhan Railway Station and arrive at Xianning North Railway Station (20 min, 40 rmb).
Slower K trains, arriving at Xianing Railway Station (1 hour, 12.5元) depart from Wuchang as do C trains (intercity, 50 minutes with many stops, arrive at Xianning South, 40 rmb).
Buses from nearby cities also connect Xianning with the rest of the province. Expect to meet hawkers at train stations trying to sell discount tickets to the Hot Springs.
Minivan drivers will be found at almost all the railway and bus stations willing to drive you to the Hot Springs area, expect to haggle (prices depend on people going, distance, etc). Public Bus line 1 from XianNing Railway Station goes to the Hot Spring Area.
Xianning is famous in Hubei Province for its abundance of Hot Springs, with resorts ranging from high end luxury to simple family resorts. Plan ahead, as the resorts can get pretty busy on weekends. The resorts provide simple refreshments and and meals as well as lounges. No need for a towel and shampoo, its provided!
The Hot Spring resorts all have their own hotels, expect to pay 200元 a night for a middle range room.
