Volcano de Fuego is in Chimaltenango of Guatemala.

Volcano de Fuego is very famous for being almost constantly active. It has daily explosions. The volcano is joined with Volcano Acatenango and collectively the complex is known as La Horqueta.

Get in[edit]

You do not hike the Volcano de Fuego itself. It is dangerous because of its big daily explosions and volcano activity. However, you can have an amazing view while you visit Volcano Acatenango. It is popular to hike to Volcano Acatenango while you are in Antigua Guatemala or Guatemala_City. You should check out private transfers from the airport or both cities.

Sleep[edit][add listing]

The tours and hikes to Volcano Acatenango from where you can see very well the eruptions of volcano de Fuego usually last around a day and a half. For this reason you should sleep either in Guatemala City or Antigua Guatemala.

Do[edit][add listing]

Volcano de Fuego is one of the most active volcanoes in Guatemala. You can see this volcano very close while you are hiking Volcano Acatenango, for safety and logistic reasons you should take a tour.

The dry season in Guatemala is from November to April. This is the best time of the year to hike volcanoes. You can do the Volcanoes during the raining season as well, but you need to be aware that the guided tours may be cancelled because of the rain.
