Lugu wikipedia link

Hi there, I added a wikipedia link on the Lugu page to point to Wikipedia:Lugu_Lake, but you reverted by edit saying that the link was not necessary. It is indeed necessary, because in Wikipedia, Lugu can refer to multiple places, not just to the lake in Yunnan. I will revert your revert. Sorry.

Same for Xiangcheng - there are quite a few places named Xiangcheng in China.

Hello, I was referring to the External links page on tertiary sources usage, under the External link usage heading. People should, can and know how to find that information without the links. --OVK (talk) 08:00, 24 October 2013 (EDT)

Listing for tour operators

Dear OVK, I'm a long-term traveler and new contributor. I try to understand the logic of acceptable and not-acceptable entries. In this specific case I try to understand your removal of my listing for a tour operator on the Wadi Rum > Do page with the remark: "... to keep the articles clear of things that do not benefit the traveler. In this case as a traveler could arrange these things themselves (generic tours)". In the article under "Do" is mentioned "...a Bedouin driver who serves as a guide, but often does not have much knowledge and poor English. Therefore, picking up a guide at the gate is a hit and miss affair and many of the best guides rely mainly on advance bookings. You can usually make advance bookings through your hotel, and this may be advisable given that some guides will not have good English. Many of the guides have websites, through which you can arrange your tour." Therefore I'm not sure why the listing of an experienced tour guide and tour operator with excellent English practice differs from any of the operators of Bedouin camps listed further down in the article. As a traveler I can easily find Bedouin camps in Lonely Planet, TripAdvisor etc. and do not rely on Wikitravel. Tour guides however can not be found on any of the above sites. Thanks for your time and efforts. —The preceding comment was added by User:Awonderfulmind (talkcontribs)

I get where you are coming from with this crit. Nevertheless we have our guidelines for adding tours and tour arrangers. I always encourage users to start conversations on appropriate talk pages if they feel we can improve the site! --OVK (talk) 08:48, 7 November 2013 (EST)

Listing for Lombok: The Dorsal Effect

Hi OVK, I have edited The Dorsal Effect's tour listing to comply with the guidelines, and removed the XL to their Facebook page. The snorkeling trip is well-worth it; friendly guides, plenty of live corals and marine fish to see, and a really relaxing experience overall.

Good catch - thanks! --Ttcf (talk) 04:14, 19 April 2014 (EDT)
