Hi, Maj! Welcome to Wikitravel! You can find out more about Wikitravel on the Wikitravel:About page. If you have any questions or comments about how Wikitravel works, post a message at the travellers' pub. I hope you enjoy helping us build a free, complete, up-to-date and reliable travel guide! -- Evan 07:51, 4 Aug 2003 (PDT)

Hey, so, you should throw your support behind Karen in the administrator nominations. -- Evan 20:05, 8 Sep 2003 (PDT) P.S. Mwah!

So, I finally got a start on Black Rock City, although it's as-of-yet still larval. I plan to outline the ideas of Burning Man in the "Understand" section, but I need some help with "See" and "Do". Any help or comment greatly appreciated. -- Evan 12:03, 7 Oct 2003 (PDT)

So, I keep seeing places where you put a link in to an article for US cities in the form "City name, State name". I think by the article naming conventions they should either be :

  1. just "City name" if they're unambiguous (examples: Denver, Minneapolis)
  2. "City name (State name)" if they conflict with another city (examples: Springfield (Missouri) and Springfield (Massachusetts), Kansas City (Kansas) and Kansas City (Missouri))
  3. "City name (city)" if they conflict with another kind of thing (like a state) (examples: New York (city), Washington (city))

I realize that the "City name, State name" form is the most common in the United States, and I could be convinced that it's better to use a form people are more familiar with. My only counterarguments are:

  • Using the "Something (Something else)" form is consistent for the entire world.
  • The MediaWiki software lets you write [[Kansas City (Kansas)|]] (note vertical pipe) and get out Kansas City (Kansas).

I've been changing the places I see "City name, State name" to one of the other forms when I find it. If you think this is wrong, let's wrestle it out on the naming conventions page. -- Evan 11:57, 29 Oct 2003 (PST)

Check out Walnut Creek! OK, it's a little disparaging, but I think Johnny did a great job. -- Evan 07:34, 31 Oct 2003 (PST)

Hey, don't worry. I figure we should be as kissy-face as possible on Wikitravel. AH WUB OO SNOOKUMS! -- Evan 16:37, 10 Nov 2003 (PST)

Anything for the cause, eh? Majnoona

So, you realize we're just going to have to buckle down and write Grand Canyon, don't you? -- Evan 17:19, 10 Nov 2003 (PST)

Hello Maj. I am working on Death Valley without an existing template and would really like some feedback about style, content etc. if you have a chance. Thanks Ron 10:42, 11 Nov 2003 (PST)

Maj, I made several style changes to the Death Valley page and would appreciate some feedback on this if you have a chance. Thanks
