Tyumen: one of the wealthiest cities in Russia

Tyumen (Russian: Тюме́нь tyoo-MEHN’) is a city in Western Siberia and the capital of Tyumen Oblast, a region of Russia. Tyumen Oblast is not just a region in Russia, it's the second largest region in Russia (after Krasnoyarskiy Kray) and it covers nearly 2000km from the most southern part of Tyumen Oblast (near the Urals) to the most northern part, deep in the Arctic Circle.

Get around

  • Big Apple Pub, Osipenko 73 (near Ovental Tower buisness center), 63-20-15, [1]. Great american bar in downtown! All homesick expats would feel home there! Don't forget to tip waiters and bartender!

  • Vse Prosto!, Pervomaiskaja, 40/1 (Set back from the corner of Ul Pervomaskaya and Ul Smolenskaya, follow the orange spray-painted signs on the pavement). A new hostel with sparkling-clean and comfortable interiors. Staff are friendly, helpful, and can help you in basic English, but they are for the most part new at the business and might not be able to help with visa registrations. 590 rubles for a dorm bed.
