Torino (Turin) -a large city of about one million inhabitants- is set in the North-Western corner of Italy (45° N, 7° E), one-hour driving from the French border and slightly more than that from the Mediterranean sea.

Its main attractions include its baroque palaces and churches, its regular and attractive street grid, its extensive network of arcades, and a number of important museums.
