We already have one district article, Xiamen/Gulang Yu, and overlapping/should-be-merged stuff at Gulangyu. Jimei is a quite distinct district, almost a separate city, but its article is currently just a redirect to X. There's another large suburb across the big suspension bridge, on the highway toward Zhangzhou and Guangdong. I do not know its name; it looks like it is growing very fast. Xiamen itself could be split up. Downtown, the university district and the newer business district near Marco Polo are some possible divisions.

I do not think Xiamen needs districts yet; it is not that big an article. However, it seemed worth noting the current state here.

See [1] for administrative divisions. Turns out the other suburb I mentioned is Haicang. Pashley 07:42, 2 January 2010 (EST)

There's mention of ferry travel from Xiamen to Taiwan, but no links on where to get more information, by tickets, which ferry to use or how to find the harbor. Any of this information would improve this article. User:anon16:58 June, 21 2010 (CST)

Seems is hacked right now. (Site to book ferries to Taiwan)

Ok, people stop reverting the erroneous introduction to Xiamen. "Xiamen (厦门; Xiàmén) is a coastal city in Fujian Province in China. Generally not considered a "must see" destination in China, it does have a number of attractions, an interesting history and is tourist friendly." Although I can't say that Xiamen is the biggest tourist destination in China, having a header like that detters travelers on going there. I know Xiamen to be more tourism oriented than most other cities listed here, and yet they dont have that header.

With the new intro, the city appears less attractive than with the old one, --ClausHansen 02:42, 19 May 2010 (EDT)

New Banner with Invisible TextEdit

The new banner looks great! But unfortunately the text in the text box is white against a white background, so it's mostly unreadable. Maybe that's just a problem on my end...? --Flapingglass (talk) 06:38, 10 March 2015 (EDT)

Return to "Xiamen" page.
