An anonymous user removed the merge tag from this article. Typically Wikitravel doesn't do articles on mountains - see Wikitravel:What is an article (note: we have region articles named after mountains, but the articles aren't about the mountain). This article might make an interesting itinerary article about a specific trek, but it would be helpful if the person working on it could first review Wikitravel:What is an article (example: "potassium permanganate" is not one) and a few of the existing Nepal trek articles so that the formatting is consistent. -- Ryan • (talk) • 14:41, 13 April 2010 (EDT)

A decent wikitravel site would have information about any major trek.

What?? What you also propose merging Everest information into the Alps? Manaslu and Annapurna are DIFFERENT locations mate. 14:17, 13 April 2010 (EDT)

As a general point, being constructive when trying to sort out an issue pays more dividends than pointless sarcasm. But that aside, if you look at the Wikitravel definition of Annapurna (a region, not just the mountain), I think Manaslu is very close, if not inside that region?. I was not sure though, which is why I suggested in the edit note (I think you can only put one potential merge destination in the merge template) an alternative merge with Himalayas (Nepal). Given that Wikitravel does not typically have articles about mountains, if you know the Manaslu trek well, please do go ahead and write about it in the appropriate article. Thanks. --Burmesedays 22:21, 13 April 2010 (EDT)

VFD Discussion[edit]

Am I right? That Mountains and hills aren't appropriate for being an article but National parks are an exception? This article makes me think it's kind of preview for the book listed in the reference section (-.-)

  • The content reads very like something copied from a book I agree. I am not sure if Manaslu merits an article or not, and there is a discussion on the talk page about where the content might be merged. Generally, you are right that we do not have articles about mountains unless they are major attractions or national parks.--Burmesedays 02:38, 14 April 2010 (EDT)
  • Delete and redirect - The fact that the text references specific pages from a book leads me to believe it is probably not compatible with our copyleft. Redirect to the region, and later if enough information appears to overburden that article we can think about giving it its own page at that time. Texugo 13:01, 14 April 2010 (EDT)

Result: Merge template added for Annapurna. -- Ryan • (talk) • 21:53, 21 May 2010 (EDT)
