| Should we rename this article "Gates of the Arctic National Park and preserve", leaving simply GotANP as a redirect? The "preserve" part incorporates a larger, but very similar area. The difference is that some activities (such as hunting) which are prohibited in the NP are allowed in the preserve. − | : As with Denali National Park the "and preserve" seems sort of bureaucratic and doesn't conform with the "don't use official names" rule, so I'd be in favor of leaving it off unless there really is some ambiguity about what's being referred to.

− | : As an aside, there have been a number of discussions around national park naming - a number of people were in favor (generally) of dropping the "National Park" part of the name (see Grand Canyon), but my preference has always been to include it. See Wikitravel talk:Naming conventions#Mount X or Mount X National Park? for the start of that discussion, noting that it spilled over into a few other places. -- Ryan • (talk) • 01:47, 13 June 2010 (EDT)
