Removed provinces

Chimborazo not a city

Chimborazo was listed as a city. There is a province called Chimborazo, but the city which is "host" to the mountain is Riobamba. --pjt33

English-language newspapers

I managed to buy the Miami Herald from a small street news-stand in Riobamba (by Correos). Was this exceptional, or should mention of the possibility of buying English-language newspapers in the street be added? --pjt33

ATMs

On the use of automated teller machines: I was part of a large group, and we had different (UK) banks. Most of us found that we couldn't make withdrawals from all banks, and which banks we could and could not use varied between us, although in each case a network universally worked or didn't. For example, I could withdraw from any Banco de Guayaquil machine, but never from a Banco de Pichincha machine. Therefore be prepared to try two or three ATMs in order to find one which works.

Water

I deleted the price given for water ($0.25 / bottle) because, obviously, it depends on the size of the bottle. A 5 litre bottle is typically about $1, and a 25 litre bottle $2.50, although for the latter you may also have a pay a deposit on the bottle.

Visas

Should information regarding visas to enter the country be added? I have found it hard to find exact information(accept at the consulates themselves) regarding the documents to bring for the various visas.71.79.241.58 08:05, 12 September 2006 (EDT) No visa needed to enter the country

Regions

The regions used currently are quite a mess.. I d be willing to sort these

What we have right now is :

• Amazon (Ecuador) : decent info but still references the provinces, which are almost empty articles.
• Andean Highlands (Ecuador) : blank..
• Coastal Lowlands (Ecuador) : good shape but quite empty
• Galapagos Islands : Very good

Could that be used as regions ? Three regions only for mainland Ecuador seems few.. I ll look for a list of the departments and a map so we can sort them out precisely.
