From the city centre take a commuter train on the City Circle to Circular Quay. From Wharf 3 the Manly Ferry [http://www.sydneyferries.info/timetables/manly-ferry.htm] crosses the Harbour to Manly every 30 min. It is by far the most picturesque and relaxing way of getting to and from Manly. The ferry takes around 30 min and total travel time from the city centre is about 45 min. Single fares are $7.80/$3.30, and MyMulti 2 and above travelcards are fully valid. Note: MyMulti travelcards are not valid on ferries labelled "fast ferry" as those are operated by private companies and do NOT accept MyMulti travelcards, and you will end up having to pay a single fare at $9. During certain times of day one-way passes are sold on special for $5.50. However, the fast ferries do the trip in less than 20 minutes and have a licensed bar. A beer on the way to Manly is a nice way to travel!
