Sukawati is in Gianyiar Region on the island of Bali in Indonesia.


Get in

From the airport, Kuta, Denpasar you can arrive easily with taxi, Bemo or Motobike (if yiu rent one)

Get around

by taxi, bemo, motobike. You might wish to book a full travel package. Then you just contact [email protected] or the company travel-bali.jimdo com, which has its balinese base in Sukawati.


The small and typical balinese town is quite near the sea, where you can see different ceremonies and relax and swim. There are many temples opened for the tourists, but the real experience is to see them "in action": that means, when there is a tempel festival "odalan" or a different one. In the town you find actually festivals or ceremonies all the time… there is wedding, tempelfest, cremation, different small tempelfests, procession…

But also great Gamelan Ensembles con be heard at night, when they rehearse or during one of teh many performances.

Sukawati has a famous regional Art Market "pasar seni" - here you can buy all, from souvenirs, to handcraft, Art, sculptures, furniture, bascets and many many small exotic handcraft.


many of delicious street food, restuarants and: a great and special "Night Food Market", operating from 18.00 to 22.00 o´clock. Mostly with jawanese food.


early in the morning there are street trafficers going around with JAMU - a delicious and very healthy "medicine". Many stands with coconut-milk, "es campur", es juise, and other local drinks. Otherwise the 3 big supermarkets supply you with all you need or are used to...


The best place to stay is Puri Tegal Bunga. Depending on the lenght of your stay the reasonable price of 150.000.- Rp can be bargained. You find a great balinese Ambiente, with a swimming pool in front of the "cottage villas". For booking contact [email protected]

as you came in you will leave again - but with a heart which has become a bit richer and has gained some nice and soulcarriing experience.
