Stony Stratford is a town in Buckinghamshire.


Now part of the unitary authority of Milton Keynes new city, Stony Stratford is a charming and picturesque market town in the county of Buckinghamshire. It boasts a number of fabulous British pubs serving good food and beer, a good variety of quaint shops to browse and beautiful river walks just behind the high street. It has the feel of a rural village, but is part of a big city.

You can walk the whole way around Stony Stratford and there is a comprehensive bus service linking it to the new city of Milton Keynes as well as other surrounding towns and villages.



Visit one of the many traditional pubs for a good meal, pint of beer and to warm yourself by the open fire.

Treat yourself to an English fry-up at Kay’s Kitchen.

Take a scenic walk by the river which runs behind the high street.

Make sure you stop at the Cock and the Bull pubs, from where it is believed the term ‘Cock & Bull Story’ began in the late 18th/early 19th Century.


The High Street boasts a good selection of knick-knack, hardware and clothing shops, but all are independent.


Stony Stratford has a fabulous number of eateries. Whether you fancy a curry, Thai, Chinese, Italian or some simple pub grub, you will not be disappointed.


Often the scene of many a pub-crawl, you will not find it hard to track down a beer or glass of wine.


A number of hotels can be found in the High Street with The Cock Hotel and Different Drummer the most classy and charming. If you’re looking for a cheaper option, there are a number of chain hotels a taxi ride away closer to Milton Keynes centre.


Get out

Visit Milton Keynes for clubbing, theatre, cinema and restaurants or head out into the stunning surrounding countryside for a drive, walk or dinner at a charming pub.
