Valle Cochamó, the Yosemite of Chile, was one of my favorite and most beautiful places I´ve been in my life. It´s a five hour trek in to Rio La Junta, an excelent place to camp and view the surrounding the huge granite walls and beautiful nature; and, there are no park fees or loud generators like you find in Yosemite Valley. It´s a must stop for those who appreciate a unique, beautiful experience. Plus, there´s the best natural waterslide I´ve ever done. There´s so much there....Enjoy...

To get there: There´s are four buses a day from Puerto Montt to the town of Cochamo. From there, pay for someone to drop you off at the end of the road going up the Río Cochamó. Walking the road is long, boring and hard on the knees. The trail is obvious, and it´s difficult to get lost. It can be very muddy when it rains. Be prepared.

It´s a five-hour trek in to Rio La Junta, an excelent place to camp and view the surrounding huge granite walls and beautiful nature; and, there are no park fees or loud generators like you find in Yosemite Valley.

Once at the end of the road, the trail is obvious, and it´s difficult to get lost. It can be very muddy when it rains. Be prepared. The hike takes about 4 to 5 hours.

Camping: Don´t cross the rope traverse when you get in the Valley. The owners charge too much for camping and the views are better a litter farther. Continue to Rio La Junta and camp there.
