Rio Celeste National Park is in Plains of the North of Costa Rica.

Rio Celeste is probably the most picturesque river in Costa Rica. The river get its color by mixing chemicals from two different rivers. The easy hike takes about 2-3 hours, depends how long you want to enjoy the views.

Get in

Buses depart from La Fortuna at 6.45am and 11.45am direction Upala. Ask to get off at Katira. Than hitchhike or walk to Pueblo Rio Celeste (6km flat) and to the national park entrance (another 6km uphill). Hitchhiking is common and 9 out of 10 cars stops.

Fees/Permits

Entry to the national par is $12 for foreigners - April 2016.
