Providencia (Costa Rica)Earth : North America : Central America : Costa Rica : Central Valley (Costa Rica) : Providencia (Costa Rica)
The village is settled into two valleys and tourists are not really common here even in high season.
At Ojo de Agua (Km 75) you have got to leave the Panamerican Highway comming from San José direction South Costa Rica. From the Highway it is 14 km dirt road. 4WD recommended. It is also a walkable (4 h).
A car or motorbike is a nice thing to have but with a good will most of the destination are in walking distance.
- Climbing. There are at least six rocks within walking distance of the village. Bouldering is great and there is a local school run by canadians which might rent out Crash-Pads. The kids from that school are great guides. More Info: edit
- Biking. There are several tours you can make in the village but it is not flat MOUNTAIN biking. edit
- Hiking. There are some guides which offer tours. One ofthe most spectacular ones is apparently the three days walk to the pacific ocean. edit
