The Coast is the area of beach on the west coast of Perth.
Take the train
- Hillarys Boat Harbour, . within Perth's northern suburbs (just a thirty minute car ride). Here you can swim all day in the ocean; be warned however that the water is full of seaweed. There is a small water park called The Great Escape, for those who need to keep the kids entertained! edit
- WW2 tunnels, Mosman Park, ☎ 08 9269 4544, . Sundays 10am - 3pm. A remnant of the Fremantle defense line from World War 2 can be found along the coastal highway in Mosman Park. Guided tours of the tunnel system used for munition storage and artillery command are available every half hour on Sundays. edit
- Buckland Hill Obelisk, Mosman Park. Originally built between 1878 and 1880 using convict labour. The obelisk is incorporated in the coat of arms of the town of Mosman Park and has been a recognised navigation landmark for over 100 years. Parking at the foot of the site. Free access. It was moved in the 1980's to accomodate the expansion of a water reservoir that can be seen from the site. (32°01'04.6'',115°45'35.3'') edit
- The Aquarium of Western Australia (AQWA), 91 Southside Dr, Hillarys (Next to Hillarys Boat Harbour), ☎ +61 (8) 9447 7500, . 10AM-5PM daily. Aqwa features an underwater observatory that takes the shape of a tunnel. It is possible to get up-close and personal with sharks, stingrays and a huge variety of marine life. Take Bus 456 from Greenwood station during daylight hours on weekends. $28, Child $16, Child under 4 Free. edit
