Opole

Opole is the capital city of Opolskie, in south west Poland. The historical capital of Upper Silesia was badly damaged during the Nazi-German - Soviet fights at the end of World War II, but many fine houses in the old town have been rebiult. The city is known for the one of the most popular song festiwals in Poland, which takes place each year in June.

By plane

International airports are located in the nearby cities of Katowice and Wroclaw.

By train

Opole has have very good train connection with Wroclaw, Katowice and Krakow. There are daily train arrivals from most cities in western and southern Poland. Direct train from Warsaw arrives 3 times per day. There is also a direct connection with Czestochowa.

By car

You can easily get there by car from Katowice and Wroclaw by the (A4).

By bus

Many international connections (see Poland::By bus). There is a big bus company in Opole (Sindbad).

Get around

Most important locations can be reached by foot. Public transport may be used for traveling outside the city centre (timetables). One-ride ticket costs 2.10 zł, (1.05 zł for students and 1.25 zł for children).
