Newbury Park is a city in Ventura County in California.

Get in

Accessible from 101 freeway. Note that Wendy Drive is the last exit before going down the grade and there are no exits for a few miles until you go all the way down the mountain to Camarillo. Also accessible from Hidden Valley. Take Wedny drive to the end, and take a left onto Potrero Road, will take you all the way to Westlake with breathtaking views of pasture and mountains. Backroad to Camarillo is to take Lynn road until it changes into Potrero, will take you past the former Camarillo State Mental Hospital, which is now California State University at Channel Islands. Note when you are traveling down the mountain the wrecked cars at the bottom, which can be seen if you look when you are taking turns. Be careful at night, many drunk teenagers take the road out of stupidity. Also be careful of mountain bikers, who are entitled to share the road with you.

Get around

You can take the TOT busline, but service is every couple of hours. Best bet is a car, as destinations can be far apart (like all suburbia) and often walking/biking could be dangerous as in some parts the sidewalk disapears and streets are not all pedestrian friendly.

• [2] Stagecoach inn is a mandatory fieldtrip at lease twice in all local schools, so virtually all residents know something about it. Museum was the first post office of the region in the 1800s. The original building was moved for the 101 freeway to be built, then later it burnt down and the current is a perfect replica. During fourth of July, locals set up camp here to watch fireworks so be there a couple of hours early if you want a spot.
