Merida became somewhat dangerous in 2014. It is easy to be robbed after 7 pm if you walk alone in the street. If you are not sure - get a taxi - it is cheap - normaly 200 Bs for small distances as of Dec 2015. During the daytime avoid all barrios - they are not safe.
