Lyons is a small town in central Kansas.

Francisco Vasquez de Coronado and his men camped near the present day site of Lyons on their journey seeking the fabled Seven Cities of Gold. Lyons' Main Street is built on what was once the Santa Fe Trail.

  • West of town is a cross commemorating Juan de Padilla, a member of Coronado's expedition, widely acknowledged to be the first Christian martyr in North America.
  • The Coronado-Quivira Museum[1] has a large collection of artifacts related to the early Spanish explorers and the native inhabitants that once lived in this region. An exhibit in the basement depicts what life was like in Lyons in 1902.


  • Since the mid-1980s, Lyons has been a popular spot for skydiving.



  • Schirer's Restaurant offers steaks, burgers, and Mexican food.
