Lohabarrack Crocodile Sanctuary
The sanctuary is named after the name of village adjacent to the sanctuary. The Lohabarrack Salt water Crocodile Sanctuary was established in 1983 with a view to Conserve the salt water crocodile and other biodiversity found in this area. It is a repository of both terrestrial as well as marine flora and fauna. The pristine tropical evergreen forests,luxuriant mangroves,sandy beaches which are frequently visited by marine turtles and creeks harboring salt water crocodiles make it a unique marine sanctuary.
Location and Approach
Lohabarrack crocodile sanctuary is located about 24 km from port blair and is accessible by road.Sanctuary is located on the left side of Andaman Trunk Road(ATR)and starts from the point Tytler,sghat about 2 km from port Mount School. The Sanctuary is also approachable from Bambooflat jetty by Road following the ATR and is abut 40 km from Bambooflat.(or)Dundas point Jetty is much Closer
