Limoges is a city in the Limousin region of France.

Limoges Airport is served by a growing number of airlines. Air France, Ryanair, FlyBe, Chalair and British Airways all operate to Limoges. Flights from Gatwick are operated by British Airways. Ryanair operates flights to Manchester, Leeds, Bristol and London Stanstead. Flybe operate to Southampton. Chalair operate to Lyon and Paris Orly twice daily. There is a dedicated taxi service that runs from the airport to the city centre and is charged at a flat rate of 25€. There is also a handful of bus routes that serve the proximity of the airport. There isn't a dedicated bus service to and from the airport however. A walk is required to the nearest bus stops. The 26 bus route is the nearest to the airport and is situated about 5 minutes from the airport. The buses into the city centre are very infrequent however. You can also buy a ticket on the bus and the buses charge per journey. The cost is around 1.60€

The main railway station of Limoges is the Gare de Limoges-Bénédictins. It offers direct connections with Paris, and Toulouse, and several regional destinations. The motorway A20 connects Limoges with Chateauroux, Vierzon, Orléans and Paris to the north, and Brive-la-Gaillarde, Cahors, Montauban and Toulouse to the south. The nearest airport is Limoges – Bellegarde Airport.

Urban transport in Limoges and its metropolitan area is operated by Société de Transports en Commun de Limoges Métropole. The Limoges urban bus network includes the Limoges trolleybus system, one of only four such systems currently operating in France.

Limoges airport is around 6 miles / 10 km away from the city centre and is walkable although there is a slight amount of walking on a 90km carriageway for the first 500m. The rest of the walk is through countryside and through small villages.

There's a large number of bus routes and 4 trolly car lines through the city. The main terminus in Limoges is the Place Winston Churchill. The buses have a wide coverage area in Limoges but don't run very often. Some lines have two buses a day to serve the commuters in and out of town. Some lines have buses running every five minutes. There's also different timetables depending on whether it's term time or not for the school children. Services on Sundays are very limited with typically only 3 or 4 services running.

There's two train stations in Limoges. The main station is Gare de Limoges-Bénédictins. There is also Gare de Limoges-Montjovis which is situated towards the north west of the city. Gare de Limoges-Montjovis has a regional service where Gare de Limoges-Bénédictins serves much bigger cities locally and nationally.

There is also a bike hire service called V'lim which is situated near the Tourism Office.

With much of the old town destroyed in improvements in the 18th and 19th century, much of Limoges is rather drab and ordinary, but some half-timbered buildings do remain.

Limoges has a wide range of shops that are situated primarily along the Rue Jean Jaurès. There's also a large amount of shops within the city. There's also a shopping centre based on Avenue Garibaldi. Note, the majority of shops don't open on a Sunday apart from the biggest stores. They are typically only open for the mornings. Some of the smaller supermarkets are open on Sundays, but again only for a few hours in the morning.

Limoges has a wide range of food establishments with something for everyone in terms of cuisine. Some recommedations are Le Bistrot Gourmand, which serves typically french cuisine in big portions. A typical starter and a main will set you back around 35€. There's plenty of options in the Butcher's Quarter. Another popular option is Escrocs which serves croque madames for around 8€ and is popular with locals.
