Labé is a city in Moyenne Guinee region of Guinea.

Labé, home of about 59,000 people, is the regional capital of Moyenne Guinee, also known as Fouta Djallon. As well as being the largest city of its region, it is the second most populated one in the entire country, after Conakry, the national capital.

Labé lies close to the geographic centre of the country.

Get in[edit]

Labé lies some 450 km northeast of Conakry. Be aware that the trip from Conakry can take between 10 to 15 hours (more likely 15 if you don't drive with your own vehicle). From Gabu, Guinea-Bissau, one can reach Labé with a shared taxi within about 10 hours (in dry season). You will arrive at the taxi station (gare routière) from where you can take a "mototaxi" (motorbike taxi) to one of the hotels in town (even after dusk).

There is an internet café right next to hotel de l'indépendance close to the central taxi station.

Drink[edit][add listing]

Close to Sala hotel there are some Cafés and the "Americain Bar". This bar serves different kinds of beers. The Guinean beer Guiluxe is 10.000 Guinea-Francs per bottle.

Sleep[edit][add listing]

There are several hotels in Labé. Hotel de l'indépendance is right next to the taxi station (100.000 Guinea-Francs for a double room per night). Very basic but quite clean. The worst option would probably be the Grand Hotel de Tourisme (100.000 Guinea-Francs for a double room per night). I saw mice running in the foyer and the room was dusty and home to cockroaches and a giant spider. No mosquito nets installed. The best hotel in town (which is actually located 15 minutes on the mototaxi outside of Labé) would be Hotel Bashir (sometimes referred to as Hotel Safatou). Probably the only place with running water and restaurant and the only place with WiFi. Small double room for 250.000 Guinea-Francs, more spacious double room for 300.000 Guinea-Francs. On the way to hotel Bashir there is another hotel (Hotel Sala).
