Kythira is in Greece.
Kythira island is located between Peloponnese and Crete, and belongs to the Ionian islands.
The island's capital is the Chora located at the southern edge of the island, the village Potamos is located in the north and has the largest population, also other important villages are the Livadi, Agia Pelagia, Mylopotamos, Kapsali and Karavas.
From Kythira you can easily travel to the Peloponnese, is about 1.30 hours by boat, and to Crete about 4 hours by boat.
The first reference to the history about the island, is made by at Orphics where identified as, the goddess of love Kytheriea nurse, is thus revealed the first link of the island with goddess Aphrodite, which is why since ancient times the island was dedicated in celestial Venus.
Kythira has a population of 3,354 inhabitants and an area of 279,6 km ². The climate is mild Mediterranean, has lush vegetation by a large biodiversity in wild flowers and herbs. Have sufficient production of agricultural and forage products and fisheries. Roadly, drive through the Peloponnese with your car, or by bus and Drakakis Express, with destination to Naples or Githeio. By air, flying with Olympic Air from Eleftherios Venizelos and the Sky Express from Heraklion, Zakynthos, Kefalonia, Actium, Corfu, only for the summer season.
