A street inside Kolomna Kremlin

Kolomna (Russian: Коломна) is a city in East Moscow Oblast.

Get in

By train

Trains leave from Kazansky station in Moscow approximately every hour. The fare is 198 RUB as of June 2012. There are two types of trains: most go to Golutvin (Голутвин) station and take 2 hours and 20 minutes. There are also expresses to Ryazan stopping in Kolomna that are slightly faster and take a little less than two hours.

The main train station, Golutvin, is not located in the centre of the city, it takes around 45-50 minutes on foot to get there. The station called Kolomna is closer to the city centre, it's the penultimate stop on Moscow-Golutvin route.

By bus

Buses (number 460, Moscow-Golutvin) from Moscow cost around 230 RUB and depart more often but there's a risk to get stuck in a traffic jam around the border of Moscow city. The bus station in Kolomna is near the Golutvin train station.

Note, that for meet and greet in any Moscow airport, all taxi companies based in Kolomna require 100% advance payment.

  • Domodedovo airport- the closest airport to Kolomna, about 90 km away.
  • Vnukovo airport- located about 140 km from Kolomna.
  • Sheremetyevo airport- this is the furthest of the three Moscow airports from Kolomna, about 150 km away.

Get around

There are buses and trams in Kolomna. Most of them are quite new and contain electronic displays with the names of the stations. The city is relatively small so the route map found on the wall of bus stops is comprehendable. The single ride fare is 23 RUB.

As in many Russian towns, there are several competing taxi companies in Kolomna. Fare is 100 - 120 rubles on business days, 120 - 150 rubles on weekends. A list of local taxi companies in Russian [1].

Get out

  • Moscow. About 100 km to the ring road and 115 km to the city centre from Kolomna.

Public transport. Best option is to take one of local trains to Kazanskiy Vokzal station in Moscow (up-to-date schedules of all local trains in Moskow Oblast available in Russian [2]), for further destinations in the city, proceed to metro at Komsomol'skaya station.

Another option is to take a bus from Golutvin to Vykhino (purple line) metro station. Buses leave every 30-50 minutes, but traffic can be an issues in Moscow, do not rely on this option if you have a tight schedule.
