Towns and villages
As in the rest of the country, anyone under the age of 60 should speak English fluently, and possibly have limited proficiency in German, French and/or Spanish. Nynorsk is commonly the preferred variety of written Norwegian at Jæren.
The closest airport is Stavanger Airport, Sola. Jaerlines provides connections from the airport to Kleppe and Bryne half-hourly morning and afternoon on weekdays as well as afternoon and night on Sundays. Local trains between Stavanger and Egersund pass through Jæren half-hourly during the day and stop at major towns and villages on the way, as well as some smaller ones. Long distance trains (Regiontog) continuing from Egersund to Kristiansand only stop at Bryne.
Jæren is more religious than Norway in general. Consequently, people may be somewhat less accepting of matters such as homosexuality and abortion.
