Idagunji (Kannada: ಇಡಗುಂಜಿ) is a city in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka.

Get in

Idagunji is 480 km away from Bangalore, 140 km from Mangalore, 195 km from Goa. There are many bus connections available like Seabird, VRL, SRL, Sugama etc. Train (Konkan Train) connection is available from Mangalore.

  • Ganesh Temple. The The Blackstone Idol portrays Lord Ganesha in a magnificient standing pose which is unique to this famous place.

There are numerous outlets around Idagunji which sell Ganesha idols, pendents, Puja articles, Conches, brass articles.

There are a few small hotels around the temple which serve tea, South Indian dishes, and soft drinks.

There aren't really any good accomodations in Idagunji to recommend; better lodges and restaurants can be found in either Murdeshwara or Honnavara.

  • Murdeshwara is around 30kms from Idagunji. The beach offering watersports activities, and a very beautiful Shiva temple are the main attractions there.
  • Gokarna, around 70 km further from Mudeshwara, also has a beach and a temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha as well as a neighbouring one dedicated to Shiva.
