Trumpet Festival[edit]

The Guča Trumpet Festival (official website) is a competition of trumpet players an orchestras and attracts hundreds of thousands visitors each year, both from Serbia and abroad. The festival features local Brass bands as well as some international artists.

The festival itself is free, but there is a 1000 Dinar (or 10€) fee for entering the town by car.

As of 2012, the festival lasts 7 days (Monday - Sunday), the main competition and artistic acts start on Thursday. The competition and most acts are held at the stadium.

  • Eat: During the festival, the city's main streets are full of restaurants and stands where you can buy traditional Serbian food, like roasted pork, lamb and cabbage stew. Food and drinks are very cheap, a beer is about 150-200 Dinars (1-1,70€), most food costs about 300-600 Dinars (2,50-5€).
  • Accommodation: Many residents of Guča offer rooms and yard camping for the time of the festival, also there are some camping grounds around the festival. The festival is very loud, so if you want to get sleep at night, better camp a bit outside of the city.
  • Get In: The early festival (Monday - Wednesday) days are way calmer than the rest. Driving in Guča during the main festival days is adventurous.
  • Buy: There is a gas station, a postal office, a supermarket, bakeries and some small Cafés in town, during the festival there are numerous stands where you can buy various merchandise (T-Shirts, Hats, ...)
