Davis (West Virginia)

Default Banner.jpg

Davis is a city in the Potomac Highlands region of West Virginia.

Davis is the highest incorporated town in West Virginia at an elevation of 3,200 ft. Davis is not a large town, but don't let the miniscule population of 624 fool you, it has some great restaurants and it's location makes it a great base to see some of West Virginia's best sights. Blackwater Falls is in Davis's backyard and other sights like Seneca Rocks, Seneca Caverns, Smoke Hole Caverns, and Spruce Knob are within a 1.5 hr drive.

Davis, being in the mountains, is also a great base for skiing. Canaan Valley Resort State Park and Timberline Four Seasons Resort are both nearby containing a combined 76 slopes for all levels of skiers, and White Grass Touring and Blackwater Falls State Park both offer cross country skiing.

Very close to Davis is the smaller town of Thomas. The two are only separated by a 6 minute drive along WV 32 and are generally mentioned together as "Thomas-Davis" (read west to east on a map). Thomas has a few more restaurants, and given the proximity they might as well be considered to be in Davis. Additionally, a few more restaurants can be found south on WV 32 near the Canaan Valley Resort State Park and Timberline Four Seasons.
