Cottbus  is a city in Brandenburg, Germany with a population of 102,000.

Cottbus is a small city and due to high unemployment the city has to suffer from the brain drain to more prosperus German cities. The proximity to Berlin allows a lot of people to commute between the cities.
Either via the Autobahn from Berlin or Dresden. There is an hourly train from Berlin to Cottbus.
Public transport or by bike
Cottbus is known for two things:
- FC Energie Cottbus - FC Energie Cottbus is Cottbus' professional soccer team in the 2. Bundesliga (2nd tier football leaque).
- Lignite extraction in the open pits around the town
- pyramids of Branitz, build by Fürst Pückler in the 19 century
- Spreewald - Well known landscape and UNESCO biosphere reserve since 1991 15 kilometres northwest from town.
