Changde is a city in Hunan.
Changde city proper, with a population of almost 500,000 is the largest city in the prefecture of Changde (pop. 6 million).
The Shimen-Changsha Railway line runs through Changde. The train station is located in the north of the city.
National Highways 207 and 319 run through the city. Busses coming in from Changsha will drop travelers off at the northern terminal (just west of the train station).
Busses run regularly throughout the city on set routes. Taxis are cheap and plentiful. (4 yuan [less than 50 cents USD Sept 2010] is the starting cost for cabs in Changde)
Tao Hua Yuan - The Peach Flower Garden. This scenic garden was immortalized in Chinese poetry. 69 RMB in the off season; 79 RMB otherwise. You can catch a bus here from Changde's South Bus Station (Nan2 Zhan4)
