Arizona is the 48th State of the Union, admitted in 1912. To the west is California and Nevada, to the north is Utah, to the east is New Mexico, and to the northeast is Colorado. It is one of the Four Corners states.

Climate: Typically dry, hot desert in the southern lowlands, and coniferous forest in the upcountry north and east. Summertime temperatures are routinely above 110 during the day in the desert, but much cooler in the higher elevations. Mild winters in the low country, but the upcountry gets cold and frequently recieves snow.

Major cities: Phoenix, Tucson, Flagstaff
