Jubail is in Eastern Saudi Arabia.

Get in[edit]

While an airport exists in Jubail, it was taken over by the military at the start of the first Gulf War. The airport has remained off limits to the public since this time. Flying into King Fahd International Airport (DMM) is the most common flight destination to arrive in Jubail. It is then an one hour drive north along Highway 1 to get to Jubail.

The other option is to go to fly to Bahrain and drive over the causeway connecting the island of Bahrain to mainland Saudi Arabia. This is preferred by non-GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) passport holders because the immigration experience in the Bahrain airport is much less problematic that that in Dammam. The down side is that the time to get from Bahrain to Khobar across the causeway is about an hour at the best of times, two hours in the worst case. However, if one arrives in Dammam at 11PM you will be arriving with the flights from The Philippines, Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh. This can lead to very long waits through immigration in Dammam on the order of one to three hours.
