Wikitravel talk:Avoid HTML

The first bullet item says "Wiki markup is a high-level layout description that can be translated into many formats; HTML is not." This strikes me as ... inaccurate. In fact, that description is precisely what HTML was designed to be. The other arguments still apply, but this one doesn't seem right. LtPowers 10:51, 9 June 2009 (EDT)

This entire page seems outdated - the "quick fact tables for countries" comment has been replaced with Template:Quickbar, we're using listing tags that are XML - much more like HTML than wiki text, etc. This guideline really doesn't need its own page, and could probably be better handled with a single line Wikitravel:Manual of style stating "please use wiki markup instead of HTML whenever possible". I'd be in favor of converting this page to a redirect and updating the MOS if there is further support. -- Ryan • (talk) • 12:31, 28 October 2009 (EDT)
Fine with me. LtPowers 18:59, 28 October 2009 (EDT)

Clear consensus was achieved at Wikitravel_talk:Manual_of_style#Avoid_HTML for a re-direct to Wikitravel:Wiki markup which I shall now implement. --W. Franke-mailtalk 16:36, 31 October 2012 (EDT)
