Via Regia (Regal path in Polish) is a part of Camino de Santiago. In the past it was a path Polish kings used to travel. The trail follows from Kraków to Piekary Śląskie. It has some common parts with other trails as Szlak Metalurgów or Szlak Orlich Gniazd.
Via Regia is ideal for pilgrims from Middle Eastern Europe, Scandinavia, Baltic States and Balkans due to its geographical location. They can also start their pilgrimage from their local Camino trails and then join Via Regia. Non- European pilgrims can start their journey from here.
Things you need the most're first aid kit, water and food supplies and comfortable clothes.
LOT Polish Airlines offers seasonal flights from Dubrovnik to Kraków. You can fly from Zadar with Ryanair in summer season. Bus companies Retman, Eurobus and Glob Tourist offer direct connections to Croatian cities of Sesvete, Zagreb, Karlovac, Petrcane, Zadar, Sukosan, Sveti Filip i Jakov, Biograd na Moru, Drage, Pirovac, Vodice, Zaton, Sibenik, Primosten, Rogoznica, Seget Donji, Trogir, Kastel Gomilica and Split from May to October. People from other Croatian cities can travel by bus via Vienna.
Bus company Leo Express, Fliperbus offers direct connections with cities of Poprad, Bratislava, Trencin, Trnava, Presov and Kosice.
LOT Polish airlines offers direct flights from Budapest.
LOT Polish airlines has a direct flight to Bucharest.
There're plenty of connections between Scandinavian countries. Finnair offers direct flights from Helsinki, SAS offers flights from Copenhagen and Stockholm. You can flights from Goteborg, Malmo, Oslo and Stockholm with Ryanair. Norwegian Air Shuttle offers direct flights from Bergen, Copenhagen, Helsinki, Oslo, Stavanger, Stockholm and Trondheim. Wizz Air offers flight from Billund, Oslo and Turku.
From other Middle-Eastern European countries, Balkan and Baltic states
You can fly or ride to Kraków through Warsaw or Vienna.
From non-European countries
LOT Polish Airlines have direct flights from Chicago O'Hare and New York-JFK. American Airlines offers seasonal flights to Chicago- O'Hare. You can transfer from Dubai with FlyDubai airlines. You can also get a transfer from Vienna (Austrian Airlines), Munich and Frankfurt (Lufthansa), Zurich (Swiss), Brussels (Brussel Airlines), Amsterdam (KLM), Paris (Air France) or London (British Airways). You can also try to transfer from Copenhagen, Helsinki, Oslo or Stockholm with Norwegian Air Shuttle.

Przeginia-Olkusz- Bukowno- Sławków-Sosnowiec (Maczki) total time: 7h 20 min.
Sosnowiec (Maczki)- Dąbrowa Górnicza (Gołonóg)-Będzin- Będzin (Dorotka Hill)-Rogoźnik- Sączów- Piekary Śląskie total time: 9-10 h
Kraków- Ojców- Pieskowa Skała- Przeginia total time: 8h
Przeginia-Olkusz-Bukowno-Sławków- Sosnowiec (Maczki) total time: 7 h 20 min.
Sosnowiec (Maczki)- Sosnowiec (Three Emperors' Corner)-Dąbrowa Górnicza (Gołonóg)- Będzin total time :7 hours
Będzin- Czeladź- Będzin (Grodziec}-Rogoźnik-Sączów- Piekary Śląskie total time: about 6-7 hours.
There're several options for pilgrims: Kraków
Przeginia There's no accommodation in Przeginia, you can sleep on the church parish. If you travel with tent, you can sleep on Rogożowa Skała or Ostra Góra hills.
Sosnowiec There's no accommodation in district of Maczki. You can try to sleep in church parish.
In general areas the trail cross are rather safe. In spite of all always stay cautious, especially if you travel alone.
