Vernal is a city in Northeastern Utah.
Vernal does have an airport, Vernal Regional Airport (VEL) but it is very small. Great Lakes Airlines currently flies from Vernal to Moab and Denver. Vernal is also currently along a Greyhound Bus route between Denver and Salt Lake City. The best way to get to town and around town is by car.

Vernal has several reservoirs only a fifteen to thirty minute drive from city center. Steinacker is beachy, Red Fleet is famous for cliff jumping into the lake and Flaming Gorge is the boaters paradise, with world famous fishing. Vernal's unique geological formations are something to see for geologists and fossil enthusiasts alike. Fantasy Canyon is an area composed of unique erosional features located about 27 miles south of Vernal, in northeastern Utah. Even though the area is only about 10 acres in size, it contains some of the most unique geologic features in the world. The site was officially documented by early explorer and paleontologist Earl Douglass, who recorded the area by other names such as “The Devil’s Playground” and “Hades Pit.” He published photographs of this area in a 1909 publication called “The Columbian Magazine.” Raft the Green River with Adrift Adventures. The class III rapids are just enough to get your blood pumping, but this is more than just a raft trip on the Green River. Stop to see 1,000-year-old pictographs on your way to the put-in, cool off with a swim in the Green River, enjoy a catered riverside lunch and get a complimentary one-day pass to enter Dinosaur National Monument, which includes entrance to the famous Dinosaur Quarry. There are some of the best mountain biking trails in the world just ten minutes west of Vernal.
Vernal is a beautiful town known for its outdoor activities such as white water rafting and fishing the Yampa and Green Rivers, water activities at Flaming Gorge Recreation Area (207,000 acre reservoir), four-wheeling, hiking, and much more. If you love the outdoors, you will love Vernal. One of the most popular places to visit in Vernal is Dinosaur National Monument which displays some of the oldest dinosaur artifacts ever found. After hiking around get the knots worked out from your tired muscles from Jessie Forster or Sara Pittman at Vernal Massage and Spa, located at almost city center in Vernal at 266 West 100 North. Vernal has several coffee spots to get fueled up on java, both drive thru and sit in. Spoof's Coffee and Tea is located at city center and has nice outdoor seating as well as free wifi, and a drive thru location slightly west. Déjà Brew is located across the street from Smith's Grocery on the west end of town, and has a modern vibe with an oxygen bar, and Shivers and Jitters drive thru is located on the east end of town in the Naples district.
After getting back from all that strenuous activity, go cool off with a beer from the Vernal Brewing Company, located at 500 East 100 south. It is modern and fairly high class and has a great, constantly changing menu. They grow their own vegetables and brew their own beer.
Nightlife is good here with live music and everybody's favorite bar, Little B's, run by our resident rock star, Becca Boren. It isn't a fancy sort of place but a nice tavern where the drinks are well mixed and not overpriced. Located at city center.
