Varese is a region in the Lombardy region of Italy.


  • Varese - nice hillside town with several 18 and 19th century villas, a Sacro Monte or Sacred Mount and beautiful views over the surrounding mountains and lake
  • Arcumeggia - small village whose houses has been since 1956 decorated with exterior paintings by various artists
  • Castiglione Olona - very nice medieval town with a few churches
  • Saronno - a town with some monuments but mostly famous for its Amaretti or almond flavored macaroons
