Valle de Elqui
Valle de Elqui is in Northern Chile.
Valle de Elqui is a lush valley in between tall and dry peaks. Famed for pisco and astronomical observatories.
Most people come here on daytrips from La Serena. Either come by yourself on a bus or colectivo, or get an organized trip from an agency. (Obviously much more expensive)
A visit to the Elqui Valley would not be complete without a trip to one of the observatories. The Mamalluca observatory is close by and costs 7,000 CLP (01/2017) plus 3,000 for transport from the main square. Bookings can be made from the building next to the tourist information office in the main plaza of Vicuna.
Turismo Migrantes is a certificated tour operator situated in Pisco Elqui, offering different kinds of outdoor activities in the Elqui Valley. Besides, you can join trips to the mountain range of the Andes.
Elqui Domos is an astronomical hotel in the Elqui Valley.
Home to the pisco, and also quite a few wines.
Avoid late night encounters with alien spacecraft.
