Hello Tom, thanks for welcoming me to Wikitravel. I hope to be adding more content to Cambodia, Pattaya/Thailand and Delft/Netherlands (my residence) soon. One quick question: I just edited a page [1] but forgot to login first. Is there any way to link the edit to my login after the fact? hopha 15:26, 27 September 2006 (EDT)

This happens frequently to people and there is no way to do this. The best solution is to make a note in your user page that edits by a specific IP are yours. -- Tom Holland (xltel) 04:56, 28 September 2006 (EDT)

After you've welcomed every user could I ask you to proofread this section for me - User:Sapphire/Sandbox/Places/Ohio#Understand. Many thanks. -- Sapphire 14:14, 30 September 2006 (EDT)

Hey Tom[edit]

thanks for your help, yes you are right. It does not make sens to link all the district. I work on it, but for now I have to go.... Oh okay the photos are mine Theo 14:07, 1 October 2006 (EDT)

RE your message[edit]

Thanks for your comments, I have heard stories of foreigners being forcibly restrained in the US for making political comments to security officials, i.e "don't you think 9/11 was partly down to the US" or "legal guns aren't a good idea". Although such occurences are rare, and it is more likely to be challenged by a US citizen rather than a government official for anti-us comments, I do however think we need to mention something related to "not insulting America" --Korea dan 14:08, 1 October 2006 (EDT)

actually, these issues arent addressed anywhere else in the article.. please dont revert this again or i'll ask for outside input --Korea dan 15:25, 1 October 2006 (EDT)

Thanks for the Welcome[edit]

I hope to find myself and add lots to wikitravel. Thanks man. Cheers! Totally Lost 23:18, 2 October 2006 (EDT)

isIn tag[edit]

Isn't the isIn supposed to always be the "top" {{ }} tag? ~ 23:45, 6 October 2006 (EDT)

No, sometimes the isIn does not work and moving it to the top helps, but it is not necessary. I saw you moved it, so I thought it was a problem on this page, I moved it back to see if that was the case. So, I guess it didn't need to be "fixed", as it was working. -- Tom Holland (xltel) 23:52, 6 October 2006 (EDT)
When I "fixed" it [2] I changed it from {{isIn:Kiamichi_Country}} to {{isIn|Kiamichi_Country}}. I moved it because I read elsewhere that it works more reliably if it's at the top ~ 00:06, 7 October 2006 (EDT)
Ah, so it really wasn't working! Thanks for fixing my fat finger or my mistake.... I do that all the time. That was a fix for sure! I sometimes welcome people on their "User page" in lieu of there "Talk page" and people have to fix that too. Thanks! -- Tom Holland (xltel) 07:10, 7 October 2006 (EDT)

I'm good[edit]

I'm not upset at all. I thought you were referring to the PATRIOT Act when you reference recent laws passed the have laxed the writ of habeas corpus in the U.S. on certain matters. I'm glad you started the discussion on that page and I in no way meant to be hostile toward you, but I wanted to demonstrate to "Dan" that Wikitravel is not the place to discuss whatever political beef he has with U.S. foreign policy. Sorry if I came off like I was attacking you because I didn't mean to. -- Sapphire 16:53, 8 October 2006 (EDT)

Pole of Cold[edit]

Hey Tom, you do well to remove the copyvio from Pole of cold, yakutia, but be aware that the place itself is not the same thing as the North Pole. It's a region in Siberia that -- at least according to its press releases -- gets even colder weather than the geographic North Pole does. The redirect should probably be aimed to something other than the North Pole article, although to be honest, I'm not sure what. Either that, or just remove the copyvio language and leave the pointer in place. I'll work on it. -- Bill-on-the-Hill 17:29, 15 October 2006 (EDT)

could you help a beginner? -- 12:16, 19 October 2006 (EDT) thanks.

Old Trafford[edit]

Hey there,

With the Old Trafford stadium work, it might be a better idea to move it to an "Old Trafford (district) area. That way, information about the cricket ground as well as other attractions could be listed. Manchester is a very large city, and adding all the Old Trafford stadium work might make the article very long. Old Trafford, a district of Manchester, would give a more precise location. What do you think? Victor Greenstreet 18:15, 22 October 2006 (EDT)

Yup - Old Trafford (district) redirection done. Victor Greenstreet 15:39, 23 October 2006 (EDT)

Pixelated Kudos[edit]

Tom for President.

It seems like forever now that the recent changes page has shown your name next to fixes for orphaned articles, templates added to new articles, and discussions about what to do with questionable articles, so here's one of those barnstar thingies just to say thanks for doing all of the grungy work that the rest of us kind of hope someone else will take care of, in addition to all of the other good stuff you do around here. I don't know the appropriate "hillbilly grammer" for kudos, but you deserve it. -- Ryan 14:41, 28 October 2006 (EDT)

Thanks for the Barnstar! -- Tom Holland (xltel) 16:01, 28 October 2006 (EDT)
I'll help you set up an exploratory committee and may I recommend a fellow Arkansan for VP? I'd like to see Four Star General (Retired) Wes Clark be your VP, or at least Secretary of State. On a seperate note, thanks for catching Munich/Neuhausen. I created the page, but I haven't any reason why and looking at the history I'm rather baffled why I didn't redirect it like you did. Anyhow, thanks. -- Sapphire 20:57, 11 November 2006 (EST)
I'm too liberal, would never get elected. Need to find a moderate to lead the ticket with Wes. :) But... thanks for the considering me! hehehe... -- Tom Holland (xltel) 21:08, 11 November 2006 (EST)
Wes was up here in Cincinnati a few days ago to help oust a Republican representative we have in the second district, unfortunately we didn't throw her out. I love listening to him speak and I even campaigned for him (that got me into a little trouble when I discussed American politics with a Serb). He's my favorite politican, but my second favorite Arkansan. :) -- Sapphire 21:15, 11 November 2006 (EST)

Hi, Tom. So, you probably saw the new recent changes patrol feature. It's working out pretty nice. If you want, you can set your preferences so your own edits are automatically marked as "patrolled". It saves you a couple of clicks. It's on the "edit" tab in your preferences. --Evan 09:48, 17 December 2006 (EST)

Thanks for the info.... Done! And I agree the recent changes patrol is working very nice. -- Tom Holland (xltel) 09:53, 17 December 2006 (EST)

Tom Xltel[edit]

Could you or someone else clean up my travel guides? Thank You a newbie explorer.

Xltel could you help my travel guides? thanks.

Tom Xltel I think i made up skull island and clark caves but could check all of them for outlines? TY -- 13:49, 21 December 2006 (EST)

Oregon Nine[edit]

The reason I never trimmed Oregon to nine is because the subregions were not clearly defined so I was uncertain which subregion to move the cities to in order to avoid orphaning them. Could we talk at Talk:Oregon#Regions about the exact definition of the regions? Then after that, we can fix some of the items removed from Oregon#Cities to ensure they don't stay orphaned. -- Colin 21:13, 22 December 2006 (EST)

Hello there...[edit]

Thanks for the kind words. And an place without cars - seems unimaginable in my own little world but I'd say it slows the pace of life right down. And that can't be a bad thing. Read on your page that you're a docent for several locations - how is that working out for you?

Talk:Prince George's County[edit]

I thought that vote only applied to whether or not to delete it. If I've violated policy, I'll put it back. Also, the discussion on the vfd was one "I don't object to deleting or redirecting this" (you), one keep & redirect (me) and one "Keep, at least for now". I'll start a discussion on Talk:Maryland to see if we want to re-vamp the Maryland hierarchy to include counties. -- Jonboy 12:08, 28 December 2006 (EST)

Gaithersburg Eat[edit]

I'll talk to my wife (who has friends there) and to her friends and figure it out. Thanks. -- Jonboy 11:28, 30 December 2006 (EST)

No, really -- no problem! I just thought it better to ask people who travel in that area more than I do. After a brief conversation with my wife, she recommended a place in Germantown, which needs both an article and a disambig, so I deferred it until when I have a little more free time (probably one of the next three days). -- Jonboy 17:39, 30 December 2006 (EST)
