Don't spam[edit]

Hello! Please do not insert same link to multiple pages on Wikitravel. We consider that spamming. Check our External links and Don't tout policies. If you have any questions, please let me know. Warm regards, IBAlex (talk) 13:36, 26 June 2014 (EDT)

Hi Alexandra, thanks for your suggestion. But, take a look at Madrid (for instance), i only have added a link to a new transfer service to a list of secundary links... why my contribution is considered SPAM and previous contributions Do NOT?
Take a look to Venice, I think that i added useful information to people that are planning to use a water taxi and (obviously) a link to a supplier that provide the best service... why do you consider SPAM?

thanks for your reply

Hi Traveler! Thanks for your promt response. Let me clarify everything:
  • Your links were considered spammy because you added same link to multiple pages in our articles. Just imagine, Herz company, adding links to thousands of destinations...this would certainly not benefit the traveler and just clutter our articles. Users are allowed to put one unique link to the service they provide on one article, but not 3, 5, 100. I hope yo get the point.
  • Information on venice article is very useful, however, it was copied from another source. Please keep in mind that we only accept original content in our guides. Fell free to rewrite the information though! We would appreciate it!
Please let me know if you have any more questions. Warm regards, IBAlex (talk) 20:35, 26 June 2014 (EDT)

Hi, thanks for your reply, I will try to fix following your suggestions

Hello, Traveler65!

I had to undo the changes you made to the Tenerife page. While we really appreciate your contributions to the travel guide - it does fall under touting and spam. The URL links are different for each city, but the parent company is the same "bookTAXI." Aleks has previously mentioned this as an issue so please revisit the Don't tout page.

Again, we do appreciate your participation - so please feel free continue making this guide great for everyone while observing our community's policies!

Hi IBCaldera, I respect your rules but I do not totally agree with them ... a similar case would be mark as spam the website of Barcelona Airport (in page talking about Barcelona) because there is also published the website of Tenerife Airport in Tenerife page... but both sites are from AENA company.. The same with Renfe of any other company that delivers services in differents cities or countries... The question is: Does Wikitravel accept commercial information where it will be useful for tourists or travelers? so, if the answer is yes I think you have to permit differents links from the same company where they are coherent with the context and useful for people... Best Regards, Marco.

Luggage lockers in Barcelona[edit]

Hello Marco! Please know that we do not create separate articles for luggage lockers in different cities. If it's your original text, please feel free to add a sentence or two about it on our Barcelona page. Make sure to comply with our External links and Don't tout policies. Warm regards, IBAlex (talk) 13:22, 17 August 2014 (EDT)

One Month Suspension[edit]

Hello Traveler65, as we can all see by your talk page, we’ve continuously worked to help you contribute with respect to the community guidelines. Some listings can fall into gray areas of our policies, so there is always room for confusion. Unfortunately, there’s a consistent issue in which you’ve been placing “booktaxi” links multiple times over multiple articles, which as IBAlex and I have shared, is spam. Your account has been suspended for one month. In that time, please feel free to visit the links we’ve share on your talk page. We hope to you’ll contribute constructively in the future. Thanks, IBcaldera (talk) 14:18, 18 August 2014 (EDT)
