This site is not for advertising, but non-promotional contributions would be appreciated[edit]

Please read Wikitravel:Don't tout, Wikitravel:Activity listings#Tour listings, and Wikitravel:External links#What not to link to. Of course, it's understandable that, since you are knew here, you wouldn't realize that you were running afoul of site policies. I hope you stay and make constructive edits within our policies that are of use to visitors and not purely promotional.

I appreciate that but why can others do it?[edit]

I understand now that i may have made some mistakes in editing on page content i.e get in etc but when trying to input a chalet site, like so many others have in the 'sleep' section it is removed, why?

Your wisdom would be most gratefully received as i don't want to waste any more of mine or your time.

Others can't do it. I just deleted a slew of listings with neither street addresses nor rates in Chamonix. If you see more listings in violation of our policies, you don't have to wait for others to act: plunge forward and delete them yourself, giving your reason in your edit summary. But here's some information you can use: Have a look at Wikitravel:Accommodation listings. If you follow the format listed there, include the required information, and adopt a descriptive, rather than promotional tone, you'll do fine here. And you'll find that if you put forth a good effort, admins and other regulars here will be happy to work with you to stay within site guidelines.
