Hello Pat! Welcome to Wikitravel. Thanks so much for plunging forward so far! South Georgia is one of my absolute favorite places in the world, so it's great that we can have someone contributing with such detailed knowledge! Now here's the boilerplate welcome:

If you're going to continue working on Wikitravel, you may find the tips for new contributors helpful. You should also make sure you understand our copyleft and policies and guidelines. Scanning the Manual of style, especially the article templates, can give you a good idea of how we like articles formatted. If you need help, check out Wikitravel:Help, and if you need some info not on there, post a message in the travellers' pub or on the talk page for the most appropriate article.

Once again, thanks for your contributions thus far, and hopefully we'll see more. -- Ryan 16:37, 4 Dec 2005 (EST)

I'm also excited to see that you'll be contributing. --Evan 17:11, 4 Dec 2005 (EST)

Thanks for the encouragement and particularly the pointers to the useful hints. Please excuse any transgressions while I assimilate it (and feel free to gently point out any). We have only just got net access here so I am learning a lot of stuff all at once, as well as trying to hand over to Emma Jones, who will be the second Govt. Officer over the next couple of years. Anything in particular anyone wants to know? If so I can do that first. Pat.

You're doing great so far -- any and all information you can add is much appreciated, and someone will always be able to clean up any formatting errors (you haven't made any so far, but everyone does so don't worry about them). As to anything people particularly want to know, info such as whether there is now any publicly available internet access would be useful to me, and further details on how people can visit the island (especially other than on a large cruise ship) would be great. That said, you know the place best, so anything you feel is useful and are willing to add would be great.
Will you still be at KEP in January? I'll be visiting on the Polar Star and would love to say hello. -- Ryan 19:36, 5 Dec 2005 (EST)
Sorry, no, I'm off north for my hols next week, home in the UK for Christmas, and then hopefully Norway, Svalbard, Pyrenees for some snow. Emma will be in the chair until I get back in April and then we both work the busy winter fishing season. Still, say hello to Emma.
