Hello, Gunnsi! Welcome to Wikitravel.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Wikitravel:Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub.

See Tour for guidelines on tour company listings in Wikitravel, thanks! -- Ryan • (talk) • 16:03, 2 April 2010 (EDT)

Again, please read the Tour policy. Continually re-adding your listing after it has been removed is considered edit warring. -- Ryan • (talk) • 17:46, 2 April 2010 (EDT)

I can't see what I am doing wrong![edit]

Can you please tell me what is wrong with this:

"sightseeing of the most attracting sites in Reykjavik on an El-Bike with a local guide. This effortless trip can be booked directly from our office at the harbor. Trips run from April to September and last for about 3 hours. Two to three trips a day depending on month."

There are two guides the have founded this company. They work at the office and guide the tourists. The company is located at Ægisgarður at the harbor downtown Reykjavik.

I have read the "Tour" section and I do not feel I am breaking any rules!

We have had a lot of problems with spam from tour agencies, so unfortunately our policies for listing tours are now very strict. If you read the guidelines you will note that the current benchmark is "If a traveler could fulfill the substance of the tour on their own, the tour should not be listed". This generally eliminates all walking, driving, or biking tours, but would allow (for example) helicopter tours, boat tours, or trips that a traveler would not be able to do without additional support. -- Ryan • (talk) • 18:18, 2 April 2010 (EDT)

This is no different from a helicopter tour because it is on Electronic Bicycles. The tour is to long for a walk for normal people, it is to much strain for those who are old to bicycle but on El-Bike it is not. In the tour the story of Reykjavik is told and the settlement of the Vikings, something you do not read about elsewhere. The El-Bike is indeed the "additional support" people need to have. This is no SPAM! Please consider!

Why are there a lot of other guided tours listed in WikiTravel?

Why bullying Guides? I think you under estimate a live Guide! Specially educated Guides!

As stated above, the Tour policy explains why your service isn't appropriate; if there are inappropriate listings in other articles they will eventually be removed, but it's impossible to review every edit made to every article. The reasoning behind our policies on tours can be found at Wikitravel talk:Activity listings. I don't doubt that you run a wonderful business and provide an excellent service for people who want it, but if your read our tour policy and the reasoning behind it I think it's (unfortunately) clear that Wikitravel isn't currently an appropriate place for listing your service. -- Ryan • (talk) • 18:40, 2 April 2010 (EDT)

I hope my company fits in now. We also rent bikes. You should eventually have a special Guided tours section. If you think that is spammed, then it could eventually be stated in the heading of the article and let the reader judge!

A nother thing: I noticed this: White water rafting/watersports watersports are available from April to October This can't be in Reykjavik. Maybe a bus driving from Reykjavik to the place. Is that ok? in a listing? (I am not trying to be boring, I just want to know where you draw the line because I to have some tours I can offer from Reykjavik but are not in Reykjavik itself!)[edit]

With no explanation, you removed all other bicycle tours in Reykjavik and inserted this one. That is extremely poor behaviour and if it happens again, that url will be immediately blacklisted at Wikitravel. Think about what you are doing. --Burmesedays 22:44, 2 April 2010 (EDT) My apologies, that is wrong, I was looking at the wrong history. --Burmesedays 22:50, 2 April 2010 (EDT)

My wish is that ALL the bicycle tours could stay in there. The more the merrier! I was wondering if we could make a special page for guides in Iceland. Walk, talk, bike and hike! That way we wouldn't be in the way of those who do not want to look at Guiding. My thoughts about this is that Guides are being bullied in WikiTravel!
