Hey, Guaka! Welcome to Wikitravel. Please take a sec to look at our copyleft and policies and guidelines, but feel free to plunge forward and edit some pages. If you need help, check out Wikitravel:Help, and if you need some info not on there, post a message in the travellers' pub. Don't forget to update your user page, too! -- Evan 19:22, 4 Sep 2003 (PDT)

So, I've moved your two unanswered questions to the travellers' pub from the FAQ. Also, you may be interested in the Wikitravel:Phrasebook Expedition. -- Evan 14:24, 9 Oct 2003 (PDT)

One more thing: what makes you think Wikipedia is a destination we're going to write about? B-) -- Evan 14:49, 9 Oct 2003 (PDT)

So, I've done an update on the French phrasebook to make it come more in line with the Phrasebook template. There's still a lot to do. I'm not sure how well I described the pronunciation -- your help appreciated on that. -- Evan 15:45, 1 Nov 2003 (PST)

Hi, Guaka! It's nice to see someone else who speaks Dutch around here. Thanks for the corrections in the Dutch phrasebook. Feel free to improve it whenever you like. If necessary, it might be practical to distinguish between Dutch as spoken in either the Netherlands and Flanders (eg. retourtje and heen-en-terug). Your input is more than welcome. See you around. Hi! Did you really mean to undelete the "New User Deluge" in Wikitravel:Travellers' pub, or was that an accident when you were adding your last comment into the pub? I thought it was helpful to delete it to sweep the pub, but I'd hate to re-delete it if you have reasons for wanting to keep it. Thanks! -- Colin 14:32, 22 Jun 2004 (EDT)

It was an accident. Sorry. Guaka 17:22, 22 Jun 2004 (EDT)

Hey Guaka, thanks for your engagement in the HC issues here! :-) I just wrote you a detailed answer on my talk page and maybe I will be able to recruit you as a volunteer for a special mission ;-) Greetings from North Carolina, Veit Veit 01:17, 25 Jun 2004 (EDT)

Should Lomé have an article name of Lome? Please see Wikitravel:Article naming conventions#Foreign language characters. -- Huttite 05:46, 11 Jan 2005 (EST)

Italian Wikitravel[edit]

We've got 7 people signed up for the Italian Wikitravel project. We now need a) to have the language file checked and b) to have a "go-between" take responsibility for the project. I can have the site up in hours after this is done. Please, let's get this going! --Evan 10:45, 25 Oct 2005 (EDT)

For the Italian Wikitravel, I will just be able to help out there. I can understand quite a bit of Italian, speak a little bit, but my writing definitely sucks. So I can neither check the language file, well, at least not for spelling errors if that's what you meant here, nor be a go-between. Guaka 18:16, 15 Dec 2005 (EST)

Hi. If I'm not mistaken, you're a native Dutch speaker with a superior command of English, an intricate knowledge (if not complete agreement!) of Wikitravel policies and style guidelines, you're an advocate of more language versions, and you've been involved with Wikitravel since I can't remember when. Would you please be the go-between for Wikitravel nl:? I'm going to start setting the site up to run... I think we're awful close. --Evan 16:49, 15 Dec 2005 (EST)

Yep! :) Let's go..! Guaka 18:14, 15 Dec 2005 (EST)
Weeeeeee ;-) the site is up. Please tell me when i do something wrong, but i'm trying to translate a lot of the pages in the Wikitravel: namespace. Often I translate the most important information, leaving the rest in english (i've created a stub-like-thing for pages where i did that!)--Twopeak 15:37, 19 Dec 2005 (EST)

Wikitravel and hitchhiker's guides[edit]

Everything I write is licensed under GFDL & CC by-sa, so you can do whatever you like as long as you follow the licenses. However, the site is currently using a blatant copy of Wikitravel's front page, which is not multi-licensed -- you will need to use CC by-sa for your own site to be able to recycle it.

Also, I'm not sure there's any point to your project — why not enter the hitchhiking info here on Wikitravel instead? Jpatokal 09:36, 20 Dec 2005 (EST)

Okay, cool! Well, the front page is different now. I don't think it's a big problem really.
Well, the point is to have hitchhike specific info! On Wikitravel this information would be lost inside a lot of other stuff, irrelevant to most hitchhikers. Just wait till it gets bigger :) Guaka 12:09, 22 Dec 2005 (EST)

Portuguese-language Wikitravel[edit]

English - Hi! The Portuguese-language Wikitravel has been launched. There are still many things to check, translate and write about. As you've volunteered to help on the Portuguese Expedition, we would very much appreciate if you could please collaborate with the new Wikitravel as you can. All help is welcome! Thanks! Canadian border[edit]

"At the border, in case you use hospitality exchange networks, don't mention this, since you might be harrassed for an extended period of time." Is that first hand experience talking? Did you ever get your laptop? -- Sapphire 18:32, 9 August 2006 (EDT)

They were asking all sorts of questions. I was among the first one to get checked, and the last one to leave. Other people were even held for more than one hour. I still didn't get my laptop (though that is not related to the Canadian border :) Guaka 17:04, 13 August 2006 (EDT)

What are your feelings...[edit]

Hi Guaka,

While we were in Cambridge Evan, Maj, and I talked about starting an annual get-together of Wikitravellers. Would you read this over Wikitravel:Travellers'_pub#Wikitravel_get-together and tell us your ideas. Thanks. -- Sapphire 21:47, 15 August 2006 (EDT)

I just rolled back an anonymous deletion of your user page. --Evan 15:48, 7 February 2007 (EST)
