You put a comment on the overloaded Beijing article. Please provide further details about the issues you want to raise. If you want to discuss applying policy, please do so using your experience of Beijing. Note the current consensus is for improving the article. Lawe (talk) 16:06, 21 February 2015 (EST)

I will add more details, but I also asked our Admin from China to add feedback. Although I have visited Beijing a long time ago, my knowledge would not be sufficient with regards to districts etc. I am definitely for improving the article, and I think you are already doing a great job. When reaching consensus it means to get input from various users, so just give it some time. Adzas (talk) 16:14, 21 February 2015 (EST)

New York City[edit]

Hello Adzas!

I checked that a mention of evoJets was removed from New York City page saying that 'a worldwide jet charter, where is corporate office?'. Their main corporate office is probably in Aspen and other offices in Manhattan and more. The worldwide charter means that they serve worldwide and not physically present worldwide. Basically during my research on New York jet charter, I found them and have recently chartered jet from New York and was a good experience. Which is why I wanted people know about them and their awesome customer service. In-case you want any information about them, I will research more and add it. It will be great if you revert or undo the removal - Prajaktal

Personal information[edit]

Hi Adzas,

you deleted my edit stating that no private contact information is allowed, yet there are lots of other guides and that have phone numbers/email that have not been deleted. Can you explain why you have been inconsistent?

Thanks, —The preceding comment was added by (talkcontribs)

Hello, thank you for your comment. From your IP address I can´t see which edit you are referring to, but when we check recent edits we do remove personal contact information, just have a look at listings to have a better idea what is allowed and what is not. In the past edits may have been left and we do try to adjust those as well as much as we can. I have a long list of articles that I still want to check, but if you can let me know from which article your info was removed I will have a look which other listings need to be adjusted. We appreciate your input and we are looking forward to further edits from you! Adzas (talk) 05:54, 30 April 2015 (EDT)

Shetland Islands banner[edit]

Hello, you added a banner to this entry

However the image is from the *South* Shetland Islands, which are in the Southern hemisphere near to Antarctica, whereas the Shetland Islands in question are part of the United Kingdom, in the North Atlantic ocean.

I don't know how to fix this so I thought I'd let you know :)

Mesnard (talk) 16:44, 20 May 2015 (EDT)

Thanks for letting us know. I will remove the banner and search for a different picture. Or feel free to add a picture yourself if you like, see Wikitravel:Banner guidelines. Thanks for your input! Adzas (talk) 04:54, 21 May 2015 (EDT)

"wikitravel does not promote trravel sites"[edit]

Then why is this page still active: —The preceding comment was added by Phuquocislandguide (talkcontribs)

Hello, the admin team does its best to catch all instances of linking and promotion to external travel sites, booking aggregators, travel operators, and more. This site gets a lot of edits so some links slip through the cracks. Thanks for catching this! IBcaldera (talk) 19:21, 20 May 2015 (EDT)
The user you are referring to seems to have the same intent as you, promoting Phu Quoc, as you are both using a similar name. User pages can be named like that, it is just the promotional content that needed to be removed, and valuable travel info added to the respective article. As mentioned above, we have a lot of edits to check so it is easy to miss one. I reverted the content on your user page again, please don´t add again, otherwise your account will also be blocked. Thanks for your input and upcoming edits! Adzas (talk) 05:02, 21 May 2015 (EDT)

Tbilisi Taxis[edit]

Hi Adzas, if you revert some change, please check the service details as well. Taxify is global taxi application with very strong local presence in each city. We have local company in Tbilisi, office with 7 local people working. Taxify is leading taxi application in Tbilisi, operating over 1+ years and hundreds of taxis and tens of thousands of users. Please revert back your edit, so people visiting Tbilisi would be able to get trusted taxi service. There is no real dispatch center to call for reliable cab - there is real problem - everyone can become taxi driver and cheat customers. Taxify is a reliable option, with proper customer support and actually "metered taxis", that no other company will provide. I wrote as neutral text as possible, its vital part of taxi market in Tbilisi. Please go and visit the city, then you know. I just came back from Tbilisi few weeks ago. Thanks, Martin —The preceding comment was added by Waldec (talkcontribs)

Hi, thank you for your message. Although we understand that Taxify can be a great help for travelers, in general we don´t allow information about Apps in our articles, as per our guidelines in external links. If a local business has an office where travelers can go to book a service then it could be added using the listings format including address, phone number etc, but without an url of an App, as this will be removed again. I hope this clarifies why your edit was reverted. We are looking forward to your future edits of valuable travel information, about things to do and see in Tbilisi or any other location you have visited. Thanks! Adzas (talk) 05:05, 18 June 2015 (EDT)
Hello again, I read the external links policy. To put it straight, I think its "a bit outdated" considering today's app based economy. But my point was also not to have links, but let people know about a decent options to book a taxi. Can we add Taxify listing as text only (no links). Person interested in the service can go to appstore and download the app themselves. As I understand your text > Going to taxi company office to book taxi sounds rather pointless for a person. Are you doing this in hour home city? Probably not, you either call taxi dispatch (there are no decent quality companies in Tbilisi) or you use smartphone and app to book taxis (you have wide choice, see car arriving on the map and pay via the app = all clear benefits). -> So my question: can we add Taxify listing as just text based description and avoid URL/external links? —The preceding comment was added by Waldec (talkcontribs)
Hi, thanks again for your input. I don´t think our policy is outdated, it is just to avoid articles being filled with external links, which is not the purpose of Wikitravel. We want information, not links. Adding a comment saying that Taxify can be used in a certain location I am sure is acceptable, especially as you say taxi services are limited in Tbilisi. However, if the same info is added to all the locations where a certain App is active, then the information would be removed. I hope this helps. Adzas (talk) 09:48, 18 June 2015 (EDT)

Private Vietnam visa on arrival services[edit]

Hi Adzas,

I'm the manager of, and I'm the one who mentioned about our private visa on arrival service on Vietnam page. I've received your message in which you said that "online booking services are against our policies and there are many sites offering this service, a traveller can easily find links on his own."

Actually very few online agent offering this service and if they do, the price is $12-$20/person. That mean 2 to 4 times more expensive than ours

I know about the policy, but I think our services is good and could benefit a lot of travelers. Of course it also bring a little benefit to us, but it's a win-win situation. And anyway, listing in the page does not mean that members will use our services. I just hope that if they google and they found out that our services is the best, they will use us.

If posting the online booking services is against policies, then what should I do in this case? Additionally, If I give a coupon of 10% discount to all wikitravel's members, for example the list could be:

Private Vietnam visa on arrival service (, +84 983098412 (), [1]. Online agent offering private Vietnam visa on arrival services, enter code "wikitravel" at checkout for 10% discount. $5/person.  edit

Is this possible?

Thanks Alex Phan

Hi Alex Phan, it's nice that you know our policies about online booking services being against Wikitravel policies. With that being said, if you are hoping that listing your business here may somehow increase the chance of being found on search engines, please note that Wikitravel implements rel="nofollow" so there is no SEO benefit to listing a website here. Again, Wikitravel has no interest in marketing - this is a site for travellers, so offering 10% off for Wikitravel users is also not possible for us. We sure understand your marketing drive and appreciate your effort, but marketing your business should not be the purpose of joining Wikitravel. However, we do very much welcome your contribution to the article of your city or the places you are familiar with. Cheers! --Binbin (talk) 22:45, 24 August 2015 (EDT)

Thank you[edit]

Hi Adzas,

Thank you for your message on my talk page. I understand the current situation and I can tell it to other members of ja:wikitravelers.

Ha Long Bay castaways tour[edit]

Dear Adzas,

I noted that you deleted my 18 September edit to the Ha Long Bay article, describing Castaways Island Tours as something to See. Your policy against advertising is clear, and I both respect and - as a traveler who frequently references your site when visiting a new destination - deeply appreciate it. However, these "castaways island" experiences have become a category of tours in their own right --- a third way to see Ha Long Bay that is quite distinct from cruises or independent travel. Several competing operators offer them although my company, Vietnam Backpackers Hostels, created the original. (ex. vs. vs.

It seems to me that it's perfectly legitimate and within your policies to mention the EXISTENCE of various Castaways Island tours on Wikitravel. And if you allow a bulleted list of cruise operators on the page, then it stands to reason that you would allow a bulleted list of castaways operators as well.

One final thing that I'm bound by pride to mention. This isn't really about advertising for us. We don't need to advertise for awareness. Most backpackers on the SE Asia trail have heard about "Castaways Island" and consider it a must-do while in northern Vietnam. Our larger concern is that copycat operators have deliberately sown confusion. People who think they're booking our tour are instead booking a copycat. At least one entire tour group has been abandoned in port without transportation back to Hanoi. Others have just had substandard experience and, still unaware that there are multiple castaways operators, wound up complaining on our Trip Advisor page about it. You say that your site is meant not for advertising but to be a resource for travelers. I get it. In fact I applaud it. But if that's true, wouldn't it be in bounds to educate travelers to northern Vietnam about their options in booking a castaways tour? —The preceding comment was added by (talkcontribs)

Hi, thank you for your message. I have reviewed the latest edits and the links I removed were booking sites not just for the cruise but also other excursions, and the last site was a best price site with flight bookings as well, which is clearly against our policies. Other admin have removed the same link. But I don´t see any removed link for the backpackerhostels in the article. Looking at the backpackers site, I would allow that link in the location articles where the hostel is located, in the Sleep section, where you could describe that the cruise to Ha Long Bay is offered. The other link you mention above, is that yours as well? I don´t see that one in the article but I also did not remove that one. The article has quite a description about the different options and about the best ways to book those, so if that is not written clearly you could add something about copy cat tours if you like. The rest of the listings will be checked as well, I just made a start cleaning up the article. If you have any further questions or comments, please let me know or add it to the discussion page of the actual article, so others can participate as well. We appreciate your edits and your input. Adzas (talk) 04:47, 7 October 2015 (EDT)
Thanks very much. I've added some edits to the page. If you have a moment, please check to make sure they're ok. —The preceding comment was added by (talkcontribs)
Great, I had a look, all ok. I am looking at the full article though, and some of the listings may be moved to articles like Hanoi as that is where the agents are located, but I will make sure it is clear to the traveller where to find the cruises. Thanks for your input, looking forward to further edits from you! Adzas (talk) 12:11, 8 October 2015 (EDT)

Revision history of "Mount Agung" article[edit]

Hi Adzas !

I'm surprised you removed the guides lists for hiking Mount Agung. I'm a traveler (and have no business on Bali) and sometime I may consider using a guide for trekking Having a list of guides and prices may be very useful. In my opinion, the canceled list wasn't unfair in the way that several different companies was listed.

I am much more disturbed by the fact that the article is written in an excessive way to make people fear going by themselves than by a list of different guides.

What do you think about it ?

Laurent —The preceding comment was added by Outang (talkcontribs)

Hi, thanks for your message! I can see your point, but the reason the list was removed was because the listings did not follow our listings guidelines. We don´t allow private contact information, or businesses that offer general tour planning, so I was just cleaning up the article. I understand that such a contact could be very useful, but in the article it also says that guides can easily be booked via the hotel for example, so a traveller who wants a private guide I am sure will find one. About the style of the article, if you feel it should be written differently, feel free to plunge forward and add any information that you feel is missing, following our policies and guidelines of course. We are looking forward to seeing your edits! Adzas (talk) 09:41, 22 October 2015 (EDT)

paris on foot[edit]

Hi Adzas,

I understand your concern about listing walking tours with no added value, i.e. tours that one could do on its own. The reason I wanted to list Walk My Steps is double:

1. the company provides services of state-licensed guides who has deep knowledge of the city in terms of History, Art, Culture. This does not seem like the kind of experience one can have on its own, at least for me it does not.

2. there is a strong debate going in France right know where professional licensed guides are confronted with amateur guides... mentioning/listing only a company (Localers) who works with non-certified guides does not seem very balanced, nor right, in terms of bringing to the general public the full picture.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts,

Parislover —The preceding comment was added by Parislover (talkcontribs)

Hi, thank you for your comments. I understand your point, but following our policy it clearly states that in practice this policy disallows listings for most audio tours, walking tours, and guided tours since the substance of such tours can generally be fulfilled by an independent traveller, and the information provided on such tours should ideally be included in the appropriate Wikitravel article. If you have a question about whether a tour can be listed, or feel that an exception is warranted, please use the discussion page of the appropriate article to discuss your concerns. If you still feel your link should be accepted as an exception, please discuss on the discussion page of the actual article, so others can give their input as well, and we decide from there. As you sound very knowledgeable about your area, please so add as much valuable information in the guide itself, which would be much more useful for our travellers. Thanks for your edits and input! Adzas (talk) 10:46, 6 November 2015 (EST)

Hi, thank you for your help. How do I advise about traditional food of the area ? I did it as a side note in the "Eat" section but apparently that wasn't the right place. —The preceding comment was added by GeoffreyG (talkcontribs)

Thanks for your message. You can add anything you like about traditional food, just don´t use first person pronouns or links to secondary sources, just original content, describing what you wish to share about the subject. We are looking forward to further edits, great job! Adzas (talk) 16:32, 8 November 2015 (EST)

MIami & Miami Beach edits/reverts[edit]

Hi Adzas, Thanks for letting me know about the reverts, sorry I wasn't aware of your note. I just had no desire to rephrase what's already on awesome Oliom blog. Your pages are missing so many great things about Miami & Miami Beach and several things are also plain wrong or misleading. Unfortunately, it's just full of business listings and not much valuable content for travelers. Sure, I will never touch your wikitravel pages again -Best, —The preceding comment was added by (talkcontribs)

Hi, thank you for your contributions and reaching out here. As a matter of fact, linking to secondary sources such as blogs is not allowed. Plus, adding more than one URLs will be regarded as touting and as advertising spam in the eyes of other editors. We would appreciate it if you can plunge forward and update/add information to our articles, but please do have a look at our policies and guidelines and style before doing so. Thank you and look forward to seeing more of your contributions. --Binbin (talk) 03:49, 20 December 2015 (EST)
Thanks for your feedback! As mentioned above by Binbin already, we have to follow our guidelines. The point is that travellers like you add their valuable information to the article, and if you feel it is all too comercial, your input is greatly appreciated, to make the articles better. Links we try to keep to a minimum and if we see clear advertising we remove it. Please do come back and share your knowledge with us, we would like that! Adzas (talk) 05:21, 20 December 2015 (EST)

Hi, Adzas, I want to know here it's possible or not to add new language?! for example Pashto and Balochi languages, I will work for this languages.--Ibrahim khashrowdi (talk) 09:31, 13 March 2016 (EDT)

Hoi An[edit]

Hi, you removed a new addition to the Budget accommodation section of Hoi An.

The accommodation is certainly located in Hoi An, but has an advantage that it is in the quieter part of town, hence the reference to 'village'.

I suggest that a new Homestay that has been open for two months and is striving hard to win custom should have a chance to be featured on the Wikitravel page. They are a very credible budget accommodation option as at March 2016, so this update brings a relevant and current perspective.

Please could you reverse the deletion? —The preceding comment was added by (talkcontribs)

Hello, thank you for your feedback. I double checked the listing, which appears to also have been removed by another admin previously as the listing was added to the top of the list, which is against our guidelines. We usually don´t want more than about 10 listings in each category, so the Hoi An article already has way too many accommodation listings. If you feel a listing should be replaced or removed, then this can be discussed on the talk page of the article. If you have any further questions, please let us know. Thanks Adzas (talk) 10:30, 29 March 2016 (EDT)

I appreciate that a lengthy list may dilute the section. Nevertheless, Herbal Tea Homestay is worthy of a listing. With the earlier feedback, I moved the listing from the top of the section to the bottom, to address the specific feedback of the previous editor. To ensure that the list is not lengthened, I suggest the following:

An Phu Hotel – This hotel has changed name / ownership, so less confidence that the comments are current. It is now Hoi An Lantern Hotel.

Nhi Nhi Hotel – At $60-$125 for a double room, my suggestion is that this should be moved to the mid-range section. I am happy to ‘cut and paste’ if you agree. —The preceding comment was added by (talkcontribs)

I appreciate your comments, but our policy is very clear, we don´t want Wikitravel to become like the Yellow Pages, we just want a small collection of listings, see our goals. I already removed the An Phu Hotel listing, but the list is still way too long. With regards to the Nhi Nhi Hotel, yes please, if you find information is out of date or needs to be changed, please go ahead. Thanks for your input! Adzas (talk) 09:38, 30 March 2016 (EDT)

I am disappointed with this outcome. I wanted to make a valid contribution about a listing which will be of benefit to other users. I spent time writing the contribution, relocating it per the original request, researched hotels on the current listing to spot where it was not current and thereby, reducing the number of overall listings. I have proposed a net reduction in the number of listings.

This to me seemed a pretty fair compromise to our respective views. Batteredpassport (talk)batteredpassport

Dry Tortugas "Get In"[edit]

Re: the most recent edit you reverted on the Dry Tortugas "Get In" section, the ferry listed does not go to Dry Tortugas/Fort Jefferson. The only commercial ferry that gets you there is the one that I provided updated details for (which I have absolutely zero affiliation with.) You can verify by checking both sites. Can we go ahead and re-do the edit so that it is accurate? Jdrusse (talk) 11:39, 1 April 2016 (EDT)

Banana Islands[edit]

Hey adzas, I am sorry for the editing mistakes I make, I am just starting to use wiki. (I am not even sure that it's the right place to talk). I ll keep updating Banana page and then you can correct my things. Sorry for the mess. —The preceding comment was added by Fpipo (talkcontribs)

Hi, thanks for your edits. No mess at all, just take some time to read our guidelines, and when we change something just look what we did. To add a listing, have a look at listings. Any questions, let us know. Thanks! Adzas (talk) 05:19, 29 April 2016 (EDT)
I have the bad habit of being unhappy with my edit and do multiple ones in a row, I think you caught me in between two. I should and will read the guidelines, but with only a mobile phone while traveling, I m always tempted to just share the important info quickly. By the way I am also the user trekpouf, but forgot my password. Is there a way to merge both accounts?Fpipo (talk) 06:47, 29 April 2016 (EDT)

Somehow disturbing that you don't want citations/proofs for something that is written (fiber), but why on earth you can not add telephone numbers or websites to the only two existing bus companies??? And because of that you deleted everything from this section??

Sorry, it is hard to get any information at this place and you do not want to make this easier. —The preceding comment was added by Zackdvd (talkcontribs)

Hi, thanks for your comments. Our guidelines state very clear that we don´t want secondary sources in our articles, and when it comes to phone numbers, yes they are allowed, but in the proper listing format. The reason why everything was deleted in the Get out section of the Chaitén article because in this section we just list some places of interest located near the location, not how to get out by bus etc. Just have a look at our guidelines in your welcome message, to help you started and if any further questions, just let us know. Questions regarding a certain article is best to ask on the discussion page of that article, so other admin and users will see your comments as well. Happy editing! Munduk villages vs Munduk[edit]

Hi there, I'm wanting some help with the North Bali page about Munduk villages that you were involved with at some point. I think the content should be moved to Munduk (which currently redirects to Bedugul). I'm new to Wikitravel - is it ok for me to just go ahead and do this? Thanks for your help! Question re. redirects[edit]

Dear Adzas, thank you for helping with the redirects regarding Zao Fox Village in Shiroishi (Miyagi). I totally understand your reasoning. I created those redirects because if I look for Fox Village or Zao Kitsune Mura no hits come up, and I think people are more likely to search for that than for Shiroishi itself. Or am I just using the search function wrongly? Best, dasbaufweltreise (talk) 22:41, 20 November 2016 (EST)

Thanks for your feedback. I remember the search function was being looked at, as at the moment when doing a search only articles will come up, not like you say for example “Fox Village”. Let me look into this again. Looking forward to further edits from you! Adzas (talk) 09:39, 21 November 2016 (EST)

inquiry on listing guide Kuantan Page[edit]

Hi, i tried to add a new listing under Sleep and was removed due to new listing shall not be at top. However, the listing guide did encrourage listing according to alphabetical order and my edit should be as per listing guide. —The preceding comment was added by (talkcontribs)

Thank you for your response. Well the page is actually direct link/primary source to the business owner as all the house is not managed by separate party/owner. It is owned and managed by hasimahguesthouse similar to how a chalet work or hotel has multiple rooms. Let me know is this still in violation of the guideline, then i will put the listing without url. Thanks.

Spam on my new guest house[edit]

Dear Adrit,

My article for varzaneh has been attacked already a couple of times with spam information. The contact information of my new guest house, Negaar Traditional Guest House has been replaced to something else. What should I do?

Sorry for any inconvenience. But, I thought maybe you are still watching the page. I would be really happy if you could help me. The website of Negaar clearly says everything:

added Lima Peru topic[edit]

Please don't just revert my links to non-official sites. If there is no official site for a museum, it's better to give a link to a non-official site that gives useful information, than to give nothing. Hey Adzas,

Could you help me please because I don't understand what am I doing wrong?

You removed the picture again but I don't know why. What I did: 1, I have an account 2, Create a description 3, Add an embedded file (I am the owner of the file) 4, Fill up the description, capture...

What else can I do?

And also don't understand why is always removing the external link? This page has lot of external links like diving club etc. What I mention in the link it was a detailed description about the place, from a Snorkeling Community Site.

Thanks AG

Im not sure if this is the correct place for this[edit]

Hi Adzas, you wanted a primary source, so I provided them.,,, they are all secondary sources/redirected to secondary sources.

Please visit the links to confirm. Since you'd like to review the article, here are the primary sources:

Mabul Water Bungalows: Sipadan Mabul Resort: (removed url, somehow blocked by filter) Sipadan-Kapalai Resort: Summerfriends: Only facebook available currently. No official site. —The preceding comment was added by (talkcontribs)

Thanks for your message. Please have a look at listings and external links to understand better why some links were removed. Not only when there is a secondary source, but also a primary source that is not following our guidelines is not accepted. We don´t want articles with many external links, we just want the info in our articles, so best to focus on content, and not adding websites. Some facebook pages seem to be blocked by our spam filter, but those are usually accepted if there is no other source, but still it has to follow our guidelines. I hope this helps, any other questions, please let us know. Adzas (talk) 10:35, 21 August 2017 (EDT)

Hi Adzas,

I have no problem with you removing the secondary sources. But the article was full of links pointing to the same secondary source ( Let me show you: redirects to redirects to redirects to, which is owned by the same company behind

And the other 2 links below 'Sipadan Liveaboard' and 'MV Celebes Explorer' also linked to

I have removed all the links pointing to this secondary source. I have also done this over at the related Mabul page. —The preceding comment was added by (talkcontribs)

Thanks, yes I also removed the links under the Liveaboard, so thanks for your help if they were moved back again. I will have a look at the article in full, but this is why Wikitravel is so great, we can all edit the articles so if anyone sees something wrong, he/she can edit the article. Any further questions about our guidelines feel free to ask. Adzas (talk) 11:45, 21 August 2017 (EDT)

Hi Adzas, the and secondary source spammer is back again. (1) They changed the official website for Mabul Water Bungalows ( to their own secondary source website ( (2) They also linked to a secondary source for Mabul Backpackers (, which actually just links back to at the bottom. I've changed the site for Mabul Backpackers to the website of the actual owners.

I can confirm that and are operated by the same people. Is there anyway to automatically ban their links from appearing each time they try to sneak them in? —The preceding comment was added by (talkcontribs)

Thanks for your message, we will look into it again. Adzas (talk) 04:27, 9 December 2019 (EST)

Hi Adzas, I recently added in the Tetebatu's Do section information about the guy who guided us there. I found his services really useful as Tetebatu is not a touristically developed area and it would have been very difficult to explore the area without him. He also offers treks to Mount Rinjani which is unlikely reachable on your own. The Tour Guides guidelines say "Tours can be listed on Wikitravel as long as they constitute a value-added activity. If a traveller could fulfill the substance of the tour on their own, the tour should not be listed" so I think my listing was appropriate. —The preceding comment was added by IlFeroceSaladino (talkcontribs)

Hi, I can see your point, but in general we don´t allow personal contact info, individuals who guide tours etc. The blog about the guy you used is interesting, but does he have an office in Tetebatu? is he an official guide? We just try to avoid individuals offering their services, we just want a description of what you can do. So instead of referring to an individual, add to the article that it is hard to explore the area on your own and that it would be recommended a local tour guide, who are available in the village etc etc. Should you still feel a listing should be included, then it can be discussed on the talk page of the article, so other users can add their input. Hope this helps, happy editing and thanks for your input! Adzas (talk) 12:09, 23 August 2017 (EDT)

Discussion of the addition of a company to the Wadi Rum page[edit]

Hi Adzas,

I recently added the business Wild Wadi Rum to the 'Bedouin Camps' section of the Wadi Rum page and you removed it, citing that it was a tour group and not a camp. The group's main capacity is to provide accommodation with food included in their permanent camp in the desert, in the same way that most of the other companies listed in this section do. I have now emphasised this fact on the group's description and would like your approval before editing the page again. Thought it'd be best to get in contact first! Many thanks —The preceding comment was added by (talkcontribs)

Thanks for your message! The listing was removed as it was added as an "Eat" listing, while it´s more a "Sleep" listing. The website that was added looked like a page where you can book tours etc, which is against our guidelines. Other listings on that same page will be checked as well, but we usually focus on the latest edits first. We also don´t want long lists in the same category, as this article already has more then 9 Sleep listings, yours would most likely be removed. We rather want editors to focus on the sights and specific information for a particular location, instead of adding listings. I hope this makes sense, if you feel this needs to be discussed further, then please do so on the discussion page of the article, so other editors can add their input too. We are looking forward to your future edits! Adzas (talk) 14:40, 19 November 2017 (EST)

Dear, Adzas, why did you revert my edit on the Dortmund page? The main part of the Dortmund page is wrong and old, so I will bring the page on a better standard. Well, i work on the dortmund wikipedia page (German and English) for a long time an write the article like shopping and quality of life in hard, detailed work. Thank you, and I appreciate your help but a complete deletion is not correct.—The preceding comment was added by Koopmann (talkcontribs)

Hello Koopmann, your edits overall are great, thank you! The parts that were removed came up after being checked as “duplicate”, we want original content in our articles, no content that also appears on other websites. If you are the writer, then you could add some of it, but specify this in your edit summary. Also, we don´t just remove content and replace it, but add our info to the existing info. If existing info is incorrect, then specify in the summary field why something was removed or replaced, so other editors understand what was done. We don´t want large parts about history etc, just focus on the travel info, and always following our guidelines. We appreciate your edits, so any further questions, let us know. Any concerns about content, always discuss on the talk page of the respective article, so other editors can also comment. Happy editing! Adzas (talk) 04:57, 5 December 2017 (EST)

Good morning Adzas,

I'm new here on wikitravel so I write you to understand better how it works.

On day 31 December at 17.41 I add some info about the page Madeira. At 17.54 of the same day you have deleted some of this information.

I would like to understand why, so that I can contribute further in the future. I don't want to make any more additions to the page before figuring out what I was wrong with.

I thought it could be due to the fact that I was talk of company and that can be seen as spam, but I do not think this is the reason, given that on the same page the company are many, many of which put in addition to the link to their page, also phone numbers and address.

I am waiting for your reply, in the meantime I wish you a happy new year! —The preceding comment was added by Regulus (talkcontribs)

Thank you for your question, and happy new year to you too! The reason the info was reverted is because it was not in the correct format, see listings. As the business is located in Funchal, it could be added to that article, following the correct layout, so including the address, price info, description etc. We try not to add just links when writing, this is against our guidelines. I will have another look at the article to see if there are any other links that are not correctly added, and make further changes if needed. Any other questions, please feel free to ask us (either on our talk pages, the discussion pages of an article or in the Travellers' pub. Happy editing! Adzas (talk) 09:33, 3 January 2018 (EST)

Pricelist updates[edit]

Hello there,

I just tried to add my knowledge to wikitravel for the first time, since im currently travelling and i had some minor issues regarding visa costs after starting my trip with some outdated information.

I tried to add a pricelist of Laos visa costs, with a picture taken just a two weeks ago, both were taken out. The picture was said to be hard to read, which is not but, ok, maybe there are higher standarts for them. But as for the information itself, it was said that pricelists are not accepted since they are prone to change.

Most wikitravel pages are full of outdated prices for everything, so it makes no sense to not accept updated pricelists (specially if they're dated, like mine was), plus it still helps readers to know the last (and most recent) known price for a specific product, even if might change a little. So im wondering why does everyone have to continue to usually find most information to be no older than 2016, if lucky (at least when exploring countries from Asia).

Hope someone will kindly clarify me about this or, if not, stay friends with no hard feelings (tho i shouldnt try to add much needed information anymore).

Hello, thank you for your feedback. You are right, there is a lot of outdated information in the articles, including pictures that should not be there. When we see them, we remove them, but as to updating information, that is up to the travelers. We want the information written in our articles, instead of articles full of pictures. Usually pictures of pricelists etc are not allowed to be used due to copyright issues, therefor we prefer an official website of a location where the info can be be found, or the info just added to the article. It is best to discuss questions like this on the discussion page of the article, this way other editors can also add their input. I hope this helps, and we do hope to see more edits from you! Proposal to suspend User talk:[edit]

I would recommend suspending User talk:'s account due to his wp:blanking of Wyoming probably due to wp:Ijustdontlikeit, wp:vandalism, or him trolling, his constant reverting, unconstructive and unresposive attitudes after being contacted on his talk page to talk about his edits in Talk:Wyoming, and his sourness from you intervening. Let me know what you think. Thanks.2600:1:F11A:A8E0:8040:6EA:DC68:40EA 22:13, 1 February 2018 (EST)

Thanks for bringing this up. The IP address has been blocked for now. Adzas (talk) 07:48, 2 February 2018 (EST)

Level 2 protection may be needed for Wyoming. It seems like that troll with an ip keeps using an ip generator software or site to evade his ban and continue to blank areas of the safety section. Please consider my suggestion to put protection on it to allow only registered editors to make changes to the pages and ban all the harmful ips for the page. Thanks.2600:1:F11C:2AD9:2093:A661:E381:2E06 15:14, 9 February 2018 (EST)

Thanks for your input again. Protecting a page is always our last resort, we wanted to see first if things would calm down. I will have a look today, if the page is not net protected I will probably do so for a while. Thanks again, and happy editing! Adzas (talk) 05:17, 10 February 2018 (EST)

Santa Cruz de Mompox[edit]

Hey Azdas and thank you for the welcoming. I didn't know about the "refrain personal experience" policy. On contractory, to be honest, I thought that personal opinion is permitted as many articles contain personal comments like "rooms were dirty" etc. So if it's not allowed ok but could you enlighten me about this policy. What is considered as personal experience? For example at page of Santa Cruz de Mompox is written: " Ideal for small groups, long term tourists or travalers wanting the real authentic feel". Is it considered as personal experience or as an advertisement or not? --Diu (talk) 11:04, 9 March 2018 (EST)

In India there are several languages but there are some very old & ancient for example TAMIL, SANSKRIT. but of those old languages many became extinct but still tamil stood erect. But in languages list you didn't even mentioned about tamil instead you have mentioned it has other 21 languages Sasidevil (talk) 23:59, 20 April 2018 (EDT)

Safety Harbor Eats edits[edit]

Adzas, While I agree that adding comments to the "Eats" section entries would be good, it is VERY frustrating that you simply deleted them ALL before asking me to add a comment to them. Now I would have to reconstruct all of the entries there, which I had already culled through and confirmed. —The preceding comment was added by Radius (talkcontribs)

Thanks for your input. I actually added the listing format to the one you added, even though it is not complete. When we see edits that are not according to our guidelines we remove/adjust them. You can still see them in the history of the article but if you know the area well, just add your own suggestions, that would be great. The removed listings did not only miss information, but also the complete format that we use. Your input and edits are appreciated! Adzas (talk) 04:50, 3 May 2018 (EDT)

Timetables in Switzerland[edit]

Hi Adzas,

I have seen that you have removed a weblink to for a private bus company's schedule (Leukerbad article). Since December 2017 the only relevant source for timetables is for all Switzerland. This is also the reason why no official timetable books are printed anymore, because in the age of digital technology their timetable has become dynamic (with changes during the year as well) and not static anymore. Therefore other sources than might be not accurate throughout the year.

If you understand German here is a link that explains that change [ohne Kursbuch']: 'Der heutige Fahrplan ist kein statisches Kursbuch mehr, sondern ein Tür-zu-Tür-Navigationssystem durch den öffentlichen Verkehr, dem immer mehr Sensoren und Transportunternehmen auch aus dem Ausland Echtzeitdaten (Übersicht auf, Link öffnet in einem neuen Fenster) liefern’—The preceding comment was added by Amabau (talkcontribs)

Thanks for your input. The article had many external links in the incorrect format, that was the reason it was removed. As far as I can see SBB does railway and bus schedules, so maybe add a listing at the beginning of the Get in or Get around section describing this using the listing format (address, contact info, description), to avoid the link being repeated in the different sections. Any other questions please let us know. Happy editing! Adzas (talk) 05:50, 7 May 2018 (EDT)

Huay Xai Laos[edit]

Hi Adzas,

I'm new here and I see you are a veteran, so if I am missing something that should be obvious, apologies.

I recently passed through Huay Xai and made a few edits to the page, mostly updates of prices and directions to the slow boat port.

It seems that my edits alerted you to check this page to see whether it conformed to site guidelines. My question is: Did you really mean to completely delete almost all the information for people needing to use the slow boat port? This along with transport from the border crossing and hotel info, seems to me to be the most important info (that was) on the page!

And did any of my edits contribute to your decision to delete the info?

BC —The preceding comment was added by Bulekafe (talkcontribs)

Hello, thank you for your feedback. The reason why info was removed is because it did not meet our guidelines. First of all, the Get Out section is to list some locations of interest near the main location, not to describe how to get out of the location. In the summary field I wrote that the article will be checked further, so I will for sure check if some of the info can be added elsewhere. But we don´t want itineraries etc. If you feel some of the information can be used in other parts of the article (like the Get around or Get in section) feel free to share your knowledge and move info around, following our guidelines. Your edits in general look ok, just remember there is no need to add dates (the edit summary shows when an edit was made) and you used a first person pronoun. Any other questions feel free to ask, happy editing! Adzas (talk) 05:21, 9 May 2018 (EDT)
Just for further clarification, the info that was removed from the Get out section about how to get to Chiang Khong can be found in that location article. Information that was removed about how to get to Luang Prabang is already written in that location article. I hope this makes sense and answers your questions. Thanks! Adzas (talk) 07:09, 9 May 2018 (EDT)

Hello Azdas, I travel alot and always use wikitravel, i decided i wanted to begin contributing. I saw one tour operator on the page and wanted to add the info of another tour operator, please explain to me how you want this done as I read all the intro stuff and there is info already on only 1 operator. —The preceding comment was added by Shmueli2007 (talkcontribs)

Hi, thank you for your question. Have a look at activity listings, which gives you some information about tours and tour operators. In general we don´t allow booking services for general tour planning, so when we see something that is added recently that is not according to our guidelines, we change/remove it. It could happen that a previous edit with a similar listing was not spotted or left for other reasons but we always try to review the full section to make sure all is as per our policies and guidelines. We rather have you add valuable information about the sights or activities. Have a look at above and just start editing, we will assist where needed. Thanks, looking forward to your contributions! Damascus Eastern Suburb[edit]

Hello Azdas! Thank you for welcoming me since I am new here. About the Damascus article, the official safety warning is still the same but for the Eastern Suburb. Russia declared E. Ghouta fully under government control since April 2018, so it won't really make sense if the article declares it under rebel control, so that information should change. Thus, the warning level should have decreased a bit since it is fully under government control. Anyways, I was just informing you about the factual information that occurred recently. Thanks, DX2004 5/28/2018 —The preceding comment was added by DX2004 (talkcontribs)

Hi, thanks for your feedback. I only reverted the warning box, as the official travel warnings are still in place, your other edit I left as it was. Just update the info in the warning box (if not already done so), so travellers can see the situation is changing. Happy editing! Adzas (talk) 04:29, 29 May 2018 (EDT)

Wikitravel Lithuania banner photo[edit]

Hi, Adzas. I have changed page banner to the panorama of Vilnius, since I think it represents Lithuania much better than some Soviet gloomy neglected monument. I thought it it was obvious. But we could search for a better options as well. -- Ke an (talk) 06:13, 10 June 2018 (EDT)

Hi, thanks for your feedback! Just explain on the discussion page of the article why you want the banner replaced, so we can decide there. We just want to avoid that banners are constantly changed, I like one picutre, you like another etc etc, so reason we suggest discussion first. Hope this helps! Adzas (talk) 06:28, 10 June 2018 (EDT)

Re: "No private tour guides and personal contact info please." (Flores/Bajawa wiki)[edit]

Dear Adzas,

I'd like to respond to your removal of a guide's contact information on the Bajawa page, and your comment: "No private tour guides and personal contact info please."

I do not see any guideline prohibiting the posting of a personal contact number on the listings page. I would understand if this were a page on the Netherlands, where one would want to limit spam from individuals intent on hijacking the wiki pages, but this is Indonesia--where the far majority of business is conducted through informal means, using personal contact numbers, and, more often, simply word of mouth. From my web searchers, there are no non-"private tour guides" who provide tours of Gunung Inerie. By following your policy, we will effectively eliminate business listings for particular activities.

Thank you

--Drwslv (talk) 05:39, 28 June 2018 (EDT)

Hi, thank you for your input. Have a look at activity listings, it may explain it a bit clearer there. No matter which page, Netherlands or Indonesia, instead of personal contact info and links to travel agents, we rather have you describe what you can see and do, as that adds much more value and follows our guidelines. I hope this helps! Adzas (talk) 04:30, 29 June 2018 (EDT)

The transportation information you removed from the southern NJ pages has been listed for over a decade. It's suspicious that you've decided to remove all of it now, 10 years later after someone decided to update it. Most of the city pages in southern NJ have little to no information on them. Are you trying to make this site even more useless? —The preceding comment was added by (talk98.221.173.149)

Thanks for your input. Articles are checked and updated by many people, so when changes are made and we see something that does not meet our guidelines, we don't only edit the latest edit, but also older edits that maybe have not been noticed. In the travellers' pub there is a discussion about transportation listings so maybe have a look there as well, to better understand why sometimes listings are removed. I hope this helps! Happy editing Adzas (talk) 04:27, 10 November 2018 (EST)

Atlantic City Transportation[edit]

Dear Adzas, thank you for your input. I am not new to Wikitravel, though the account I am using is new. I have been editing wiki sites since 2001, starting with Wikipedia. If you have a problem with my format, please suggest or submit an edit, removing the post entirely seems a bit extreme. Also, with your inference that my posting on multiple pages is a violation, transportation is exempt from this rule. Transportation services do not service single towns or areas like a barber or a hotel, they service large swaths of an area which can encompass many towns, areas and counties. NJ Transit, Patco, Greyhound and Airport Chariot all service very large areas of New Jersey that include multiple towns, cities and counties that have pages on Wikitravel. Please reconsider your removal of my listing and resubmit the information with the format you feel is correct. Thank you. —The preceding comment was added by Airport Chariot Car Service and Limo (talkcontribs)

Hello, thanks for your feedback. As you also commented in the Travellers' pub I added my answer there, hope this helps. Looking forward to further edits from you! Adzas (talk) 04:29, 10 November 2018 (EST)

Please read till the end. Hello! I am college student of Myanmar. In our National Management Degree College, there is a subject named Management Information System, MIS. The teacher said to make article on wiki travel. So, total 150 students including me are trying to upload the articale. But unfortunately most are deleted by admins. Deadline is today!!! I would like to apologize not to delete our articles. We are just making assignment. Please delete 6 months later. I do apologize instead of all 150 students. —The preceding comment was added by Hsu Pyae Sone (talkcontribs)

Thank you for reaching out to me. We have noticed all the new articles, they have kept us busy the past few days. Although we greatly appreciate all the new articles that have been created, we do need to make sure that content that is added follows our policies and procedures. I (and other admin on the site) have tried to send messages to several of the students, reminding to have a look at the article guidelines and to upload pictures via Wikitravel Shared for example. We kept most articles and added our templates etc., but we have been removing articles about sights etc. We understand that you have a deadline but we cannot leave the articles on the site if they don’t follow our rules, so just make some adjustment. I have seen many interesting places coming by, so we hope after today’s deadline you will all still contribute in order to edit those and other articles. Good luck with the project and happy editing! A Sleep update[edit]

I saw your note about Amarillo's Sleep section. Sorry I wasn't trying to list every hotel, but there are many new ones that have been built up there in the last few years. There are a few more newer/better ones I was wanting to add--would it be all right if I took out some of the older/cheapo ones in return, so I don't make myself look like Mr. Yellow Pages? And yes, I know I'm supposed to post there and not here, but I figured you would see this question quicker, and since I'm a newer member editor, I thought of this as more of a general question, for future Sleep listing reference, not necessarily only an Amarillo issue. Thanks Adzas. Swissjohn29 (talk) 21:30, 27 February 2019 (EST)

Thanks for your message! Have a look first at the long list, if there are some incomplete listings those could be removed, listings that are maybe closed etc. If the list is still long don’t want to encourage more listings. Also always leave an explanation in the summary field of your edit so others know why you removed something, in order to avoid edit wars etc. Hope this helps! Adzas (talk) 03:34, 28 February 2019 (EST)

Hello! :)

You removed the last tour organizing advert in Varzaneh page. While, there are heaps of tour options already listed in this page. Why others are allowed, and mine is removed?

Hello! :)

The page of Varzaneh includes a few adverts of tours. And it is, as you said, against the guidelines. I was planning to add min, but it is was removed. I thought maybe I should ask you? —The preceding comment was added by (talkcontribs)

Thanks for reaching out! I will have another look at the article soon, to see what other listings are not following our guidelines. Sometimes a listing is removed as there are too many of the same, if promotional language is used, if the same links are posted over and over, etc, so maybe that is why yours was removed. I hope this helps! Happy editing. Adzas (talk) 05:52, 25 August 2019 (EDT)

Hi, I answered on your own talk page. Any questions, please let us know. Adzas (talk) 04:16, 2 September 2019 (EDT)

Hi, I am not putting any url there, just trying to change some info about prices and locations. Still, it's not getting through.

Example of update: I want to change the part about Bagh-e Babur, Kabul from: "10 Af for locals, 250 Af for foreigners." to: " 30 Af for locals, 350 Af for foreigners". Similar changes I'm trying to make in other sections. No urls, just updating prices or general information. So in the "edit" mode I simply change the words, but that all gets blocked. Thanx for help.

Very strange, I just made the edit for you, all ok now. Do you only have this problem on the Kabul page? Maybe try editing another page to see if that works ok? Adzas (talk) 04:05, 4 September 2019 (EDT)

Cropped pics on the Shenzhen page[edit]

Hi Adzas,

Thanks for your message that I read as clearly intended constructively. If I may politely reply:

1) Unless I have made an error somewhere, my understanding is every pic I have used on the Shenzhen page is in thumbed format. If you or anyone else spot an exception to that, please let me know and I will humbly rectify that 2) Aware of the above point, I am also intentionally cropping some pics for any of a variety of reasons such as:

a) to remove content from image periphery that reduces focus on the more important content of an image. Doing so brings potentially interesting signs and other objects of interest in an image into a larger percentage of the image b) Reducing the height to width ratio allows for better control in aligning pics adjacent to the optimal accompanying text. Otherwise there can be issues in fitting in multiple pics one after the other pushing out the alignment meaning some pics are displayed further away from the relevant accompanying text than the pics need to be c) Thank you but I prefer not to edit with a user id

Feel free to ask any other questions etc. —The preceding comment was added by (talkcontribs)

Thanks for your feedback! The reason I mentioned the cropped pictures is because the format of our pictures (thumb format, without additional formatting) is set up as per our guidelines so they display properly. I did not see a difference in some of the pictures that you cropped, so it is better to focus on content then to crop all those pictures. One of our guidelines is not to remove content/pictures from other editors without discussing it on the talk page of the article first, so just wanted you to be aware. Otherwise editors will change pictures constantly, which we don't want. All edits on the Shenzhen page are greatly appreciated though, keep up the good work, we are looking forward to further edits. Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone[edit]

The Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone is a separate state, not part of Seattle. The articles for Kosovo or Transnistria would not be deleted, despite not being recognized by all countries. Vatican City is within Rome but it has an article. The only reason why you would delete something like its article is if you are against the BLM movement, universal healthcare, or other left-wing benefits to society. I really hope that isn't the case. I really do.Revo 030817 (talk) 05:57, 11 June 2020 (EDT)

Thanks for your input, but on Wikitravel we try to refrain from political issues, and this looks like it is something temporary (unlike the example of Kosovo that you mentioned, which is recognized by many UN states.) Saying that someone is against the BLM movement is exactly the type of discussions we want to avoid here, we are a travel guide, not Wikipedia or an encyclopedia, but if you do feel this needs to be looked at further, then do so in the Travellers' Pub, otherwise you will only get my input here on my talk page.
