Welcome to Wikitravel.

We have an introductory page for business owners--please take a minute to read it before going on with your edits. What's most important when adding your properties to the listings are: be fair and don't tout. If you respect these and follow our other guidelines we are happy to see you editing here ;-)

Your recent additions of links to articles look very much like advertisements. Wikitravel strives to avoid being an "advertising brochure" for any business, city, or service--so please edit your text to describe the establishment rather than trying to sell it to a reader. I would also recommend you read the Wikitravel:External links policy before your future edits.

Please avoid lengthy descriptions of nearby sights and attractions in accommodation listings, as these should appear in the article you list in. Instead, please give a concrete idea of the location of your property. Listing in the correct article, giving an address and preferably directions, like: near the railway station, 5 min on foot to the National Museum, 10 min by car to the Grand Canyon -- will be much more helpful for a traveler choosing a place to stay.

Finally, have you considered creating a user account so you get credit for your contributions? Other benefits include:

  • Allowing other users to leave comments to you (and to ask for clarifications to make your edits even better).
  • Making sure you will receive comments other users write to you--even if your future visits are from another IP address, you have a user talk page that is only yours.
  • Attribution for your contributions to the article--see footnote "Based on work by" in the bottom of any article.
  • Establishing your reputation among Wikitravellers and allow them to recognize you from other anonymous users.
  • Enjoying a bit more credibility by other Wikitravelers. (let's face it, anonymous edits are not very credible).
  • Making sure your contribution is not removed or changed to an opposite meaning--by using your personal Watchlist.

Hey, you are welcome to add hotels here, unfortunately links to are not allowed here per our external links policy, also we much prefer to have phone numbers and addresses for all the listings. You're giving us quite a bit of clean-up work to do here. --Stefan (sertmann) Talk 11:12, 2 March 2009 (EST)

This is the discussion page for an anonymous user who has not created an account yet, or who does not use it. We therefore have to use the numerical IP address to identify him/her. Such an IP address can be shared by several users. If you are an anonymous user and feel that irrelevant comments have been directed at you, please create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other anonymous users.
